Chantilly, VA – In a remarkable display of youth leadership and community commitment, Vishwa Solaiappan, an 18-year-old founder of The India Project (T.I.P) Foundation, successfully conducted a Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) workshop for teachers and students at Eurekha Schools in Tamil Nadu, India serving underprivileged communities. The event in collaboration with AID India, held in August 2023, aimed to equip teachers with essential life-saving skills that can make a significant difference in emergency situations.

With the growing need for accessible health education, Vishwa designed this workshop to empower individuals in low-income areas, where healthcare resources are often limited. “Teens around the world should use anything that they are privileged with to positively influence those who are not as privileged,” Vishwa stated.

The workshop provided teachers and students of government schools with hands-on training in CPR techniques, including chest compressions, rescue breaths, and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). The teachers also received instructional materials to take home, ensuring they could refresh their skills and share the knowledge with students in their classroom.

Feedback from teachers was overwhelmingly positive. Read about the workshop on the school’s Facebook page, illustrating the workshop’s impact on attendees’ confidence and preparedness to act in emergencies.

About The India Project (T.I.P) Foundation:

Founded by Vishwa, a passionate advocate for health education and social change, T.I.P aims to bridge the gap in vital life skills education for underprivileged communities in India. Raised in India, Vishwa witnessed firsthand the daily struggles faced by less fortunate individuals, often dismissed as “normal” by society. This experience ignited a deep sense of responsibility to effect change.

Upon moving to the United States, Vishwa experienced the transformative power of Family Life Education, which included essential skills such as CPR, First Aid, and overall life skills. Recognizing that such education was lacking in many Indian schools, where medical misinformation can lead to dire consequences, Vishwa understood the immense potential of sharing this knowledge.

Motivated by the belief that life-saving information should be accessible to all, Vishwa founded T.I.P. to empower communities through education. The organization focuses on providing workshops and training sessions in CPR and First Aid, equipping individuals with the skills needed to respond effectively in emergencies.

T.I.P is dedicated to promoting awareness and combating misinformation about health practices, ensuring that millions of underprivileged individuals can learn and thrive. Through its initiatives, The India Project strives to create a healthier, more informed society, where every person is empowered to act and support their community in times of need.

T.I.P Foundation continues to seek funding and partnerships to expand its outreach and offer more health education workshops throughout the region. For more information about the organization or to support its mission, please visit https://www.tip-foundation.org/.
