Today Rush Creek Sanctuary announced its addition of new members to its Board. The sanctuary, located in Decatur Texas, is a non-profit animal rescue organization dedicated to helping those with special needs, disabled veterans, Scouts and other groups who can benefit from hands-on interaction with a wide range of animals.
Founded by Dr. Brooks Trotter and Karen Renee, the organization has named Daryl Fleming, PhD, Dr. Sharron Darrow, Dr. Pamela Darrow, Paul Biggins, and Mary Lou Fleming to the organization’s Board. Rush Creek Sanctuary was formed to raise awareness of and respond to this need. Integrating educational, training, and recreational programs for those of all ages, veterans, and special needs with our animal rescue program enables us to capture the synergies of our combined humanitarian efforts.
Dr. Trotter said, “As we fulfill our sanctuary dreams I’m excited to bring new experiences to Scouting as well as animal therapy to disabled veterans and those with special needs.”
Karen Renee said, “In hopes of preparing tomorrow’s leaders, we want Scouts to come to the property to learn together about wildlife. They will have several opportunities to learn about animal rescue and how to protect these animals in the long run.”
Dr. Pam Darrow said she joined the organization, “to expand existing animal rescue and public service efforts and also to develop a unique animal rescue, rehoming and rehabilitation program that offers educational, and recreational opportunities that capture the synergies of integrating animal rescue efforts with therapeutic and social programs for children, adults and those with special needs.”
According to the organization’s website, Rush Creek Sanctuary’s mission is to “expand existing animal rescue and public service efforts at Rush Creek Ranch to develop a unique animal rescue, rehoming and rehabilitation program that offers educational, and recreational opportunities that capture the synergies of integrating animal rescue efforts with therapeutic and social programs for children, adults and those with special needs.”
