One of the most exciting UK Rappers Talks About Music – Err0r

When we think about Rap, Hip-hop, and RNB, we always think about the USA and think about big names such as Eminem, but what if I told you that we have a rising rap star in the UK who is taking the music world by storm?

Err0r is not from the USA; he is from West Yorkshire and is firmly putting the UK on the map in the world of Rap and Hip-hop. But Rap music was not his first choice, but thank God, he made it his career.

The Yorkshire Rap star started out in Metal/Punk and then went on to playing guitar. But his true love was always Rap/Hip-hop, and that love turned into a successful music career during the pandemic.

I wanted to know more about Err0r who has gained fans from all corners of the world and learn more about the man who is putting the UK on the world Rap scene. This is what he had to say —

At what age were you when you first became interested in music?

As far back as I remember Music has been my passion. I have plenty of interests, but nothing compares to what I feel when hearing and performing Music. If I were to guess I will have been around 8 when I first started to think about one day creating my own songs.

Can you remember the first album or single you bought?

Now this is tough, I’m not sure if it was the first I owned but one that sticks out a lot to me is All The Right Reasons (Nickelback). This band was a massive part of my childhood. Remembering the first time I heard ‘How You Remind Me’ on my portable CD player in the car is etched in my mind.

What was the first concert you went to and did it have any influence on your career?

One that sticks out the most was probably Rise Against when they played the O2 Academy in Sheffield. I was 15 and it was a time where my music tastes were evolving, Punk became a main focus in my life. After seeing that gig, I tell you, it really did change everything for me.

You have just released new music, can you tell me more about that?

Yes, we released a single with a music video on December 24th. We made this track over a year ago but never released it because we knew it would be a good one to make a video for. The message is supposed to be relatable to people & motivating for when times are hard.

“Im Built Like That” Ft Error is gaining huge exposure, can I ask who wrote the lyrics?

We wrote our own verses for the track & Mir came up with the hook. It isn’t very often where we write each other lyrics but sometimes we give each other tips. That’s one of the perks of having a partner who is also creative.

How much did the production of the video cost?

I’m not 100% sure on the amount as Shamir planned this; I feel some backstory is in order as it will explain more. I’m actually from England & Mir is from America so I flew over to Phoenix, Arizona in June last year. He had organized a studio day for us to record. He already has 10+ years working a camera and doing videography, so the majority of the day was planned down to the T. I know that doesn’t exactly answer the question. As far as the budget goes though the majority was in the equipment that Mir owns, and the rest was on a second camera man and renting out the studio.

If you could get on stage with any artist and perform, who would it be and why?

If I could get on stage with any artist I would have to say without a doubt Jimi Hendricks. Ever since I first heard ‘Castles Made Of Sand’ & ‘Purple Haze’ I was addicted. He’s been such a major part of my music life it’s hard to think of where I’d be or what I’d be doing if I never heard his music.

Artists are using social media as a way to get their music out there, one of the biggest current platforms is TikTok, are you using TikTok and if so, where can your finds find you?

I have recently started using TikTok, but I guess you could say I’m a bit of an ancient when it comes to the new apps. I do plan to use it more in the future but right now my main focus is making better music. My username is err0r__24__ for anyone that prefers to use that over other apps.

How do you come up with the lyrics, and what comes first the lyrics or the music?

For me the music comes first most of the time. Growing up as a guitarist I naturally migrate toward the melody before everything else. When I first started making my own solo music, I would always sit for hours creating Melodie’s.

If you had one wish for your music career, what would it be?

If I had one wish it would be to earn enough money to live making music. Music helps me personally with my own problems, if one day those songs help someone else that’s struggling, that would be the pinnacle for me.

Are there any plans for your fans to see you perform live?

Performing live is something you could say I have a somewhat unhealthy obsession with. I miss playing gigs and meeting other bands. It’s one of the few parts of my life where I felt comfortable. This time though it’s up to me to direct the show. So, if I’m going to do it, I’m going to do it right. Everything I’ve been building since I started in music will show at my life performances, I can assure you that.
