Can Mosses Hold the Key to Revolutionary Soil Restoration and Sustainability?

Mosses are the foundation of terraforming.

Terraforming refers to the process of transforming other planets into Earth-like environments that can support life. A recent publication in the international journal “The Innovation” suggests that mosses could play a fundamental role in terraforming. The idea is that mosses could aid in converting carbon dioxide into oxygen on Mars, potentially creating a breathable atmosphere.

As the first plants to settle on land, mosses display exceptional resilience and adaptability. They thrive in harsh conditions, maintain soil moisture by absorbing and storing water, and contribute to nutrient cycling by decomposing organic matter. These qualities make them vital for restoring healthy soil environments, inspiring Code of Nature’s Mosby soil restoration solution.

Code of Nature’s Mosby is playing a key role in terraforming research.

Mosby is a unique four-component product specifically designed for soil restoration : (1) a moss spore culture solution, (2) a nutrient solution to support moss growth, (3) a plant growth hormone solution to assist moss adaptation, and (4) a symbiotic microbial solution to restore soil health. Mosby can be diluted with water and sprayed with different ways, allowing it to be applied to large areas, thereby restoring the soil environment to one that can support life. Code of Nature is currently working with a French lunar soil research organization to prove that mosses can make lunar soil habitable for life.

Mosby has restored 466,000 square meters.

Code of Nature is able to participate in lunar soil research because Mosby has restored degraded soil on Earth. In fact, 460,000 square meters have been restored with Mosby, and the restoration sites are located in Jeju Island and Taean, South Korea.

Both projects were carried out in cooperation with well-known Korean companies. In Jeju Island, they worked with Amorepacific to restore Jeju Donory Oreum(a small mountain formed by lava eruptions), and in Taean, they worked with Hyundai E&C to restore reclaimed land.

In general, each restoration site has different needs. Code of Nature creates a restoration plan according to the needs and carries out the work to achieve successful restoration results. The success of soil restoration is judged based on objective data, which is the first service provided by a Korean soil restoration company.

The mosses used in Mosby are selected based on the target environment. They are always native to the area, which ensures excellent restoration results. This is why Mosby can be applied anywhere in the world.

Mosses serve as vital components in soil restoration, significantly enhancing soil health and supporting diverse ecosystems. Their resilience and adaptability empower the effective revitalization of degraded environments. Code of Nature’s innovative restoration method, Mosby, harnesses these strengths to transform soils and naturally rejuvenate ecosystems on Earth, paving the way for a sustainable future. As research advances, the application of moss in restoration efforts will expand, fostering thriving ecosystems and achieving greater ecological balance. By fully embracing the power of moss, society can build a sustainable planet for generations to come, and Code of Nature remains committed to leading this mission.
