LOS ANGELES, CA – LearnVille, PRJCT, ArtClub Intl. and Jhene Aiko’s W.A.Y.S. Foundation, collaborated with community leaders for an extraordinary initiative to spread joy and hope to inner-city families across four cities in Los Angeles this holiday season. A diverse collective of professionals from the music and philanthropy sectors, came together on a mission to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
For two days, December 22nd and 23rd, the collective transformed an 18-wheeler into a vessel of happiness, loaded with over 18,000 toys, over 4,000 food boxes, warm winter wear and SNOW. This remarkable event was more than just a distribution; it’s a movement of kindness that aims to bring smiles to the faces of children and families throughout the Compton, Watts, Inglewood, and South Central Los Angeles communities.
“To pull something off like this it took EVERYONE, together.” said Carrie Lyn, COO of Prjct and Founder of LearnVille. She went on to say, “Collaboration is Currency. This is how we make the greatest impact.”
Brandon “Stix” Salaam-Bailey, and his The Think Watts Foundation ensured that the collective mission was executed, alongside their own stop in none other than Watts. While local organization Developing Options, founded by BigU rolled out the red carpet for the community in South Central with an abundance of not only gifts, clothes and SNOW, but the experience of ONEness as a whole, together. Compton City Councilman Andre Spicer decided that this was the year to bring the Music and Toys to life with the collective community. And finally, D. Smoke put on for Inglewood with Inglewood’s own, Mayor Butts with giving away fresh organic foods, games, MUSIC and of course the TOYS. There was an extra touch of magic to each location’s distribution as local Mayors and City Council Members joined efforts in hosting the distribution teams. This collaborative effort demonstrates a united front in spreading holiday cheer and fostering community engagement.
Investing in the happiness and education of underserved youth is not just a commitment to their future; it is a promise to unleash the untapped potential that lies within each young mind. Education empowers, transcends boundaries, and breaks the chains of circumstance. It is the key that opens doors to possibilities, transforming dreams into reality. For in the hearts of underserved communities, the flame of knowledge not only illuminates the path to a brighter future but also ignites a beacon of hope that transcends generations. When we prioritize our youth, we sow the seeds of resilience, bridge the gaps of inequality, and sculpt a world where every child’s potential is nurtured, not neglected.
“Let us remember that the empowerment of the underserved youth is not just an act of compassion; it is an investment in a future where brilliance knows no boundaries, and every child has the chance to redefine what is possible.” LearnVille team
