Joohee Oh has helped create storytelling opportunities for underrepresented populations including the LGBTQIA2S+ and women. She has worked on projects including the Seoul Independent Film Festival, Film Festival for Women’s Rights, and Creatively Speaking Film Series, and during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, she co-founded PrideFull, a New York-based film festival for queer and trans people of color.
Driven by a deep curiosity for consumer behavior and a passion for storytelling, she embarked on a career in marketing, channeling her talents to amplify the voices of those whose stories are often overlooked in mainstream media. Thus far, in her time as Festival Director at PrideFull, Joohee has cultivated a proven track record of enthralling audiences over the past four years. “The programming heavily aligns with my lived experience and interests,” said one festival goer at PrideFull.
PrideFull commits to building a safe space where people can share and celebrate stories that are relevant to their true lives. Joohee plays an integral part in this mission, curating timely, inspirational film programs that truly resonate with the audience. She has been at the helm of multiple aspects of PrideFull’s success, from curation and programming to creating marketing content and strategizing social media campaigns. “I’m passionate about highlighting what makes PrideFull unique—our unwavering focus on uplifting QTBIPOC voices and fostering a sense of community through storytelling, advocacy, and celebration,” said Joohee.
