Since its inception in 2019, NAFI (Nanjing Art Fair International) has always adhered to the tenet of “Maintaining the High Quality, Benefiting the Public, and Empowering the City”, and strived to promote the development of Nanjing’s local contemporary art and establish an art exchange platform that balances global and local perspectives. Over the past five years, NAFI has grown continuously, expanding its influence and becoming a significant event in the art field of Nanjing and even the whole country. This year, the two main exhibition areas, “NAFI•FOCUS” and “UNI-NAFI•Nanjinger”, have collaborated with nearly 40 top-tier galleries, artist individual projects, and independent art brands from both domestic and international scenes, bringing over 100 exquisite works to Nanjing for their debut.
Among them, many galleries are visiting Nanjing for the first time, providing viewers with a “Nanjing Premiere” art experience and showcasing the beauty of art in various styles to citizens. Meanwhile, the fair has specially curated multiple themed sections such as “NAFI•PLATFORM”, “NAFI•VOICE” and “NAFI•CONNECT”, presenting a city-level art event in a multi-layered and comprehensive manner. NAFI will also continue to support young artists and work with local art institutions to build a new cultural identity for Nanjing. It will focus on maintaining an art creation and exhibition platform belonging to Nanjing, continuously exploring academic depth and unique cultural connotations.

Two Exhibition Areas Jointly Present Focusing on Academics to Boost Consumption
Since its establishment, NAFI has featured a professional presentation of image art as a highlight that differentiates the art fair’s brand. This year, the two main exhibition areas of NAFI2024 – “NAFI•FOCUS” and “UNI-NAFI•Nanjinger” – have collaborated with nearly 40 top-tier galleries, artist individual projects, and independent art brands from both domestic and international scenes, presenting nearly 100 fascinating artworks. These works cover various art forms such as image, photography, installation, oil painting, sculpture, design, and fashion artwork production, and are debuting in Nanjing, providing viewers with an unprecedented art experience.
A large number of excellent image artworks are being exhibited for the first time domestically at NAFI2024, reigniting the movement of image art. The reintroduced “UNI-NAFI•Nanjinger” has gathered 15 independent brands to jointly create a vivid portrayal of city life for viewers. These brands not only showcase Nanjing’s life aesthetics and city vitality but also integrate with artistic creation, bringing viewers a brand-new aesthetic experience.

Multi-Layered Voices Expanding the Boundaries of Public Art Cognition
Apart from the rich exhibits and exhibition area settings, NAFI2024 has also specially curated multiple themed sections such as “NAFI•PLATFORM”, “NAFI•VOICE” and “NAFI•CONNECT”.
Continuing the effort from last year’s “NAFI FUTURE” program to discover and support young artists, the NAFI team has launched a new online channel, SPOTLIGHT. This channel uses images as a medium to expand the boundaries of art and stimulate innovative expression. As a public welfare platform, the “NAFI FUTURE” program encourages new generations of artists to showcase their original works, and discovers creators with forward-thinking, vitality, and unique voices. SPOTLIGHT X NAFI FUTURE focuses on emerging artists, provides a more diverse platform for exchange and exhibition, and jointly explores the sustainable development of contemporary art.

Citywide Collaboration for a City Brand Art Event
During NAFI2024, “NAFI•CONNECT” successfully broke the physical boundaries of the art fair by expanding online models and connecting with multiple important art institutions in Nanjing. Through “NAFI•CONNECT”, visitors can deeply experience the vibrant vitality and rich diversity of Nanjing’s art ecosystem. Real-time updates on themed exhibition information, exclusive offline tours, and in-depth sharing by art museum curators have jointly promoted extensive cultural exchanges and collisions.
The four-day art feast welcomed over 60,000 visitors, including important collectors, industry guests and friends, art media from across the country, and numerous Nanjing citizens. They immersed themselves in the ocean of art and enjoyed this city-level art event. As Kong Chao, the general planner of Nanjing International Art Season and Nanjing Art Fair International, said, “The NAFI team is committed to empowering the city through the art fair. The construction of a city’s public culture does not happen overnight but requires the efforts of generations. However, an art fair can gather the best art institutions in the shortest time, establishing an unprecedented art ecosystem in the city.”
