Dr. Kasten brings a wealth of experience to Higher Edification Consulting, with over 20 years dedicated to guiding students toward academic and personal success. Raised on a farm in northern Indiana, Dr. Kasten understands firsthand the challenges rural students face. After graduating from Purdue University in 2006, he spent a transformative year in Spain, which deepened his commitment to educational equity, before returning to pursue his doctorate at Florida State University, where he graduated in 2015. His career since has been marked by a tireless dedication to college guidance, not only through his direct work with students but also in developing tools and resources aimed at making the admissions process clearer and less overwhelming.
Dr. Kasten’s philosophy centers on supporting students’ long-term success over unimportant factors, helping them identify academic environments where they can thrive. His commitment to promoting access for all, including those residing in rural areas and Spanish-speaking students, stems from his own background and a strong belief that every student deserves the opportunity to achieve their goals.
