Jenny Rook’s The Book of the Sun is a Powerful Book that Explores the True Meaning of Life

Providing answers to many of humanity’s most profound questions, The Book of the Sun by Jenny Rook shares a holistic view of the structure of the living universe, helping us understand that we are all one, while being diverse and uniquely valuable at the same time.

Jenny Rook is an acclaimed author and a psychoanalytical psychotherapist.

She was born in Essex, UK and educated at York University where she graduated with a degree of English and Music. After various adventures in the scrap trade, bookselling, running an employment agency and having children, she settled  into writing.

Jenny’s fiction books were published under the name, Jenny Jones. Her first fiction title Fly By Night (1989) was accepted by Headline, the first publisher she sent it to. This was the start of a fantasy trilogy and Headline wanted all three. Two adult ghost stories followed: The Blue Manor (1995) and Where the Children Cry (1999). Five other fantasy/horror books for young people were published by Scholastic, Penguin and Orion.

In 2006, Jenny qualified as a psychoanalytical psychotherapist for children and their families. She worked for the NHS and volunteered for Sure Start, an initiative to help with the early stages of a mother and baby’s relationship. Jenny took an early retirement to look after her elderly mother, and after her husband died moved to York with her mother, and four dogs.

After experiencing the presence of the Sun, Jenny began writing nonfiction, with her first book titled The Book of the Sun. This one-on-one interview shares Jenny’s background and experience writing this book.

Tell us about The Book of the Sun.

The Book of the Sun is a record of the conversation between myself and the Sun. It explains the structure of the living universe, answering many fundamental questions that have concerned minds throughout millennia, such as:

·  What is the meaning of life?

·  Why are we here?

·  Why is there suffering?

·  What is the future for us?

We come to this world to learn love. There is no separation. We are all one, and yet diverse at the same time. Ultimately, the Sun’s message is not only that we are one, but that love and light is the only reality.

How did your background and experience influence your writing?

I was brought up in a family of atheists, and was a committed atheist from the age of eight into my sixties, as it became clear that the materialist explanation of our world was not good enough.

I have always been driven by curiosity about the world and why people are so interesting, so after training for six years as a child psychoanalytical psychotherapist, I undertook a past life and between lives hypnosis,  explored  A Course in Miracles, experimented with a hallucinogen, and decided to take a course called 45 Days to Awakening by psychologist, Dr. Jeffery Martin. The course is designed to induce non-duality and change your consciousness in a way that you and the world become one.  About 70% of the people who take the course have an alteration in consciousness, where some people can progress to the level experienced by the Christian mystics.  As a part of this process, my ego – or sense of “I” – began to crumble and I entered a state of ecstasy which was with me while I was writing the book.

In this state, I experienced  the presence of the Sun and an overwhelming feeling of love, warmth, joy and laughter. The Sun began talking to me, describing the living cosmos and its position as the creative consciousness of our solar system. All the stars and planets are conscious, and are part of a Galaxy mind.  The two trillion Galaxies form the Universe mind.  The Sun instructed me to share this message with humanity, because as a former atheist,  I would not be tempted to make a religion of the teachings, as has happened before, notably in Ancient Egypt and the Americas. Religions depend on hierarchies, and the Sun’s message, loud and clear, is that we are all one.

What is one message you would like readers to remember?

We are all part of a wonderful cosmic dance.  Our planet is one of the most beautiful in our Galaxy, and people come to it for a life in which they learn how to love.  We face numerous challenges here, but it is like we are all engaged in a kind of game, where our emotions are the counters and stakes, with forgiveness as the winning card.. The most important thing for us to learn is the importance of love, kindness and forgiveness – for ourselves as well as others.  If we can accept what happens without bitterness, be open to love, and help each other, we will add love to the fabric of the Universe. This is the purpose of creation.  The Sun is pure love and it spreads this love endlessly throughout the Cosmos.  Like the Sun, our true essence is also love. Realizing this will enable us to live a happier, fulfilled life.
