The 2024 Palm Springs International Animation Film Festival (PSIAF) Recognizes the Achievements and Creativity of Outstanding Filmmakers Around the World
The 7th annual PSIAF screened hundreds of animation films and awarded winners in more than 30 categories

The Palm Springs International Animation Festival (PSIAF) returned for its seventh year running with a celebration of the world’s best animation filmmakers in more than a dozen well regarded categories.

Christopher Spellman, owner and executive producer; Sid Passey, producer; and Brian Hoff, producer, have diligently worked to cultivate relationships with the international animation community with a mission of evolving and connecting the best films and talent around the world.

The PSIAF started in 2017 and has been solely online since 2020. After this year’s event, the Spellman, Passey, Hoff, and the other organizers at PSIAF hope to bring its events live and in person again in the future. “Even through COVID, we remained passionate and committed to our mission of bringing together amazing talent from around the world to shine a spotlight on all international talent,” said Spellman.

Some of the award winners from this year included Best Feature for 2024 “A Passenger from Ganora”, a film from Iran by Ahmad Alamdar and Best Comedy for 2024 “Wild Eye Pub” by Filip Nerold (Czech Republic). Other winners included “Ashkasha” for Best Stop-Motion (Spain) Directed by Lara Maltz (Spain); and “Cinder” for Best First-Time Animators Directed by Carmen Maria and Stijn van der Plas (Netherlands).

PSIAF featured filmmakers from the U.S., France, Australia, Israel, as well as 70 more countries.

The organizers of PSIAF are honored to have helped bring these amazing works to a global stage and are excited to get back to work on selections for the 2025 PSIAF. Next year’s events aim to bring together even more talent from around the world.
