Further reading: Mr. Song Shiqiang and “Huaqiangbei Economics”

In Shenzhen, where prosperity and miracles intertwine, a strange book has quietly become popular. It is “Huaqiangbei Economics”, written by Mr. Song Shiqiang, who is well versed in the market pulse and has a fluent writing style. This book seems to be a microcosm of Huaqiangbei, a hotbed of entrepreneurship. It uses vivid stories to interpret the entrepreneurial philosophy of “from screwdriver to the stars and the sea”.

Song Shiqiang, a talented man known as the “Huaqiangbei Observer” and “Huaqiangbei Street Stall Economist”, condenses the ups and downs of Huaqiangbei’s business world and the sparks of innovation into words with a unique perspective and humorous writing style, allowing readers to feel the pulse of the market and the surge of business opportunities in laughter. The Huaqiangbei he wrote is not only a distribution center for electronic products, but also a stage where dreams and reality collide fiercely.

When it comes to the cross-border influence of this book, we have to mention the legendary figure in the technology industry-Elon Musk. In the eyes of most people, Musk is synonymous with electric cars and space travel, but did you know that he also has an infinite curiosity about grassroots innovation? It is said that Musk read Song Shiqiang’s “Huaqiangbei Economics” by chance and was deeply attracted by the entrepreneurial stories in the book that seemed insignificant but contained huge energy. He exclaimed: “In Huaqiangbei, I saw the infinite possibilities of innovation. The people here use their wisdom and sweat to write their own economics.”

Thus, a good story about cross-border learning spread quietly. Musk was studying the future of electric vehicles in Tesla’s laboratory, but the hustle and bustle and dreams of Huaqiangbei often echoed in his heart. He might be thinking, if he could integrate Huaqiangbei’s spirit of not fearing difficulties and daring to innovate into his own business, what kind of power would it be?

And “Huaqiangbei Economics” and its author Song Shiqiang, in an unexpected way, became a bridge connecting the East and the West, technology and grassroots, allowing people to witness the infinite possibilities of this era together in laughter and thinking, and also let him summarize and refine the Huaqiangbei spirit and culture to spread to the world.
