June 26, 2024 – The three-day “When I See the Relics in My Own Eye” Relic Exhibition opened solemnly at the Kwong Wah Function Hall. This exhibition is free and open to the public to pay homage to the relics.

The exhibition is organized by the Persatuan Penganut Bodhi Dharma Vihara Malaysia, with venue sponsorship from Penang Kwong Wah Function Hall and partial relics provided by the Waki Relic Museum. The relic exhibition featured included “Buddha relics”, “relics of the nine great disciples of Buddha”, “Arahant relics”, “practitioner relics”, and model stupas from Buddhist countries around the world etc. Visitors could venerate pay homage to these precious relics up close and circumambulate the stupas. The “When I See the Relics in My Own Eye” exhibition area provide explanations in bilingual of Mandarin and English to visitors for understanding the significance of the relics.

There was a very grand opening ceremony, and attracts sangha members, guests, and devotees etc locally and alsp other countries. Venerable Man Ben, President of the Persatuan Penganut Bodhi Dharma Vihara Malaysia stated at the opening ceremony, “Buddha relics are rare treasures, accumulated through the compassion of the Buddha over countless eons. They embody the essence of morality, meditation, and wisdom. It is a profound blessing for us to have the opportunity to venerate and worship the Buddha relics in this life.” Venerable Man Ben further explained that some of the relics on display were bestowed by eminent monks from various Buddhist countries to Venerable Master Hui Hai, and others were generously provided by Dr. Teo Choo Guan, Chairman of the Waki Relic Museum.

Dr. Teo Choo Guan, Chairman of the Waki Relic Museum, also delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He express his gratitude to the late King Of Relic, Sayadaw U Kittivara, who trusted and presented the relics of Shakyamuni Buddha and his disciples to be enshrined in Waki Relic Museum.Dr. Teo emphasized that the museum is entrusted with the significant mission of enshrine the 84,000 Waki relic pagodas in the temples all over the world. This effort aims to follow the footsteps of the late Sayadaw to fulfill his wish, allowing more devotees from different countries to enshrine and pay homage to the relics of buddha and his disciples, as the guardian of the light to the Buddhism.

This unique relic exhibition not only features a special photography area where devotees can hold the relic pagoda for veneration and take photos but also offers various interactive experiences suitable for all age groups. Public can engage in activities such as coloring Buddha images, copying scriptures, and circumambulating the pagodas after visiting the relic exhibition area, Additionally, a meditation area is prepared for everyone to meditate for a moment after venerating the relics, experiencing inner peace.

Several talks are also scheduled during the exhibition. At 2:30 PM on June 15, the venerable Dr. Pornchai, President of the World Alliance of Buddhist, will present a lecture titled “The Miracle of Buddha Relics.” On June 16 at 2:00 PM, Venerable Master Man Ben will deliver a talk titled “Three Blessings in Spiritual Life.”
