In a landmark move to foster international relations and promote cultural exchange, Canada Online Visa is pleased to unveil an innovative online visa program tailored specifically for residents of Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, and Estonia. This initiative marks a significant step in facilitating travel and enhancing diplomatic ties between Canada and these European nations.
The Canada Online Visa program aims to streamline and expedite the visa application process for citizens of Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, and Estonia, enabling them to embark on journeys to Canada for various purposes such as leisure, family visits, business engagements, conferences, medical treatment, or transit.
CANADA VISA FOR IRELAND CITIZENS
Irish citizens are among those who can apply online for an eTA. In 2016, the Canadian government introduced the eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization), a web-based multiple-entry visa waiver program that allows eligible citizens to stay in Canada for up to six months. To make obtaining a visa waiver easier, Canada established the Canadian Electronic Travel Authorization, also known as the Canadian eTA or Canadian Tourist Visa Waiver. Irish nationals must apply for a Canada eTA visa to enter Canada for travel, business, transit, or medical treatment. To enter Canada, all Irish passport holders are required by law to have a Canadian visa or visa waiver. Irish citizens can use the same approved eTA to enter Canada without a visa for 5 years or until the passport expires. The Canada Visa for Ireland citizens can only be applied online to obtain an electronic visa waiver linked to that of the traveler’s passport, eliminating the need to apply for a visa in person at an embassy or consulate.
CANADIAN ETA REQUIREMENTS FOR IRISH CITIZENS
-
The traveler’s passport must be an Irish e-passport (bio-metric passport). It is recommended to have at least 6 months of validity in the passport.
-
A valid form of payment – Applicants will need to have a valid form of payment, such as a debit or credit card, to pay the eTA application fees.
-
A valid Email address to finalize the application and receive communication regarding its approval or otherwise.
CANADA VISA FOR LUXEMBOURG CITIZENS
In 2015, the Canadian government introduced the Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) as a new screening tool enabling travelers to acquire travel authorization without direct contact with an embassy or consulate. Eligibility for eTA Canada extends to citizens of over 50 countries, including Luxembourg, permitting them 90-day visa-free stays. Luxembourg citizens intending to visit Canada for purposes like tourism, business travel (e.g., attending conferences), medical consultations or treatment, or transit to another international destination can apply for an eTA in Canada. The eTA is suitable for tourists planning stays in Canada of less than six months, and its validity of 5 years allows multiple entries, each with a duration of less than 3 months. Luxembourg citizens relocating or traveling to Canada for work, study, or permanent residence must apply for a Canada visa in Luxembourg. Various Canadian visa types, such as work permits and visitor visas, cater to different purposes. Luxembourgers meeting the eTA Canada requirements can initiate the application process, with the Canadian eTA application form available on the Canada Online Visa website’s homepage.
CANADIAN ETA REQUIREMENTS FOR LUXEMBOURG CITIZENS
-
Have a valid passport with at least 6 months’ validity counting from the entry date to Canada.
-

CANADA VISA FOR MALTA CITIZENS
Maltese nationals, along with other European Union citizens, are exempt from the visa requirement when visiting Canada. Instead, they are required to apply for a Canadian Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). The ETA, introduced by Canada in 2015, serves as an electronic travel authorization that enables citizens of specific countries to enter Canada without the need for an embassy visa. Maltese citizens seeking short-term stays in Canada for general tourism, business, transit, or medical purposes must obtain a Canada eTA visa.
With a valid Canadian ETA, Maltese citizens can stay for up to 180 days per entry, and the authorization remains effective for five years from the date of issue or until the passport expires. Applying for an ETA grants multiple entries, allowing individuals from Malta to visit Canada on numerous occasions within the specified five-year period. Once approved, the eTA is electronically linked to the traveler’s passport.
For those intending to visit Canada for purposes such as studying or working, it is recommended to contact the nearest Canadian Embassy or Consulate for detailed information. The entire application process for an ETA can be completed in approximately 20 minutes.
CANADIAN ETA REQUIREMENTS FOR MALTA CITIZENS
-
Valid passport – a passport must be valid for at least another 6 months from the date of arrival in Canada.
-

-
Payment – When they fill in an online application, a traveler has to make a payment. If they have a credit or debit card or PayPal, they can use it without any issue.
CANADA VISA FOR ESTONIAN CITIZENS
Estonian citizens planning short trips to Canada for leisure, family visits, business, conferences, medical treatment, or transit can apply for a Canadian Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). Launched in 2015, the eTA initiative spans 60 countries as part of a strategy to expedite the processing of international visitors, leading to shorter border lines and an enhanced overall experience.
The applicant’s information, linked to their passport number, is electronically stored in Canada’s immigration system. The Canadian eTA is valid for 5 years and allows for up to 90 days of additional admissions. To extend the stay in Canada, a new eTA application must be submitted at least 30 days in advance. While most requests are processed within minutes, it is recommended that travelers apply for the eTA at least 72 hours before departure to account for potential delays or additional information requests.
CANADIAN ETA REQUIREMENTS FOR ESTONIAN CITIZENS
-
Applicants must have an Estonian passport, with a validity of 6 months or more from the date of entering the country.
-
The eTA can only be obtained with an electronic passport.
-
It is a requirement to be a citizen before applying for a Canada eTA for Estonian citizens. Travelers holding a passport or travel document with a different status, such as refugees, must apply for a Canada visitor visa since they are not eligible for an eTA.
