The Paul Leslie Hour Podcast Celebrates 20 Years of Remarkable Interviews

The Paul Leslie Hour celebrates 20 years since its first show aired on the iconic station Radio Margaritaville. Marking a two-decade journey from radio waves to podcast streams, host and creator Paul Leslie is headed for his next milestone: 1,000 interviews.

Since its inception in 2003, The Paul Leslie Hour has captivated audiences with in-depth conversations with guests from all walks of life. The show began as a radio program, where Leslie’s passion for connecting with artists and sharing their stories took root.

“I couldn’t imagine a better place to begin than where I did – Jimmy Buffett’s Radio Margaritaville. I’m eternally grateful to the original program director, Steve Huntington, for being cool enough to give me a slot back in 2003. It opened me up to a whole new world,” Paul Leslie says.

“My vivid memories of producing the early episodes involve some midnight start-times at Jeff Pike’s recording studio. The focus wasn’t on interviews in those days, but soon, the interview bug bit me and it became my fascination,” the podcast creator adds.

The Paul Leslie Hour, a true example of independent media

Today, The Paul Leslie Hour is an independent media production. It is created and hosted solely by Paul Leslie, who operates the show without the influence or constraints of corporate agendas. The show’s independence is a key factor in its ability to offer refreshing and unfiltered perspectives.

Throughout the years, Paul Leslie has played host to a roster of almost 1,000 guests. From celebrated musicians to authors, actors, and other influential figures, all have contributed to the show’s enduring appeal.

Past guests include Willie Nelson, Woody Allen, Judy Collins, David Lee Roth, Connie Francis, Gene Wilder, Maya Angelou, Larry King, Kathie Lee Gifford, Regis Philbin, Arlene Dahl, Jeff Bridges, Paula Cole, and Ben E. King. Recently, Paul Leslie also interviewed 2024 U.S. presidential candidates Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Vivek Ramaswamy.

The essence of The Paul Leslie Hour: “Helping people tell their stories”

Paul Leslie’s ability to connect with such diverse individuals has been a hallmark of the show, offering a blend of interviews and commentary on various subjects. In a world filled with noise and superficiality, the podcast is a haven for meaningful dialogue that delves deep into the lives and experiences of its guests. The show’s tagline, “Helping people tell their stories,” encapsulates the essence of The Paul Leslie Hour.

Now in its twentieth year, the podcast continues to serve as a source of inspiration and insight for its listeners. It’s also a platform for Paul Leslie to practice what he loves most.

“I’m still as enamored with the art of the interview as ever. I look at the next 20 years as the second trimester,” Leslie says. “However, something has surprised me over the last couple of years – people want to hear what I think. I’m enjoying the role of reviewer and give my feedback on books, films, concerts, you name it.”
