On the evening of May 17, local time in Dubai, the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau successfully held the “Night of Beijing” international exchange event during the CABSAT2023. More than 90 guests from the Office of the Crown Prince of Fujairah Emirate in the UAE, Middle East Broadcasting Center (MBC) Group, Abu Dhabi Media Company, Dubai TV, Confucius Institute at the University of Dubai, MENA Buyer Group, International Chamber of Commerce, exhibitors from “Beijing New Audiovisual” Pavilion and enterprise customers attended the exchange event.
At the beginning of the event, Wang Zhi, Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau, welcomed all guests to the scene through a video speech. Saeed Alhefeiti, Director General of the Office of the Crown Prince of Fujairah Emirate in the UAE, Maryam Al Khoory, Senior President of Dubai TV, and representatives of exhibitors from “Beijing New Audiovisual” Pavilion delivered speeches to express their sincere congratulations on “Night of Beijing” international exchange event.
Wang Zhi pointed out in his video speech that the friendship between China and Arab countries enjoys a long history, and has stood the test of time, growing even stronger. Especially in recent years, China and Arab countries have conducted close cooperations and achieved fruitful results in cultural exchanges. At present, the audiovisual cooperation between China and Arab countries is deepening. Beijing, as the cultural center of China and the international exchange center, also leads the development of China’s radio and television and online audiovisual technology. The number of leading audiovisual enterprises, employees, main audiovisual literary and artistic works, and audiovisual technology has long been first place in China. The audiovisual cooperation between China and Arab countries is also constantly expanding and deepening, injecting fresh vitality into exchanges in culture and science and technology fields. It is hoped that “Night of Beijing” could become a long-term and effective platform for cooperation and exchange, and there would be opportunities for face-to-face communication in the future to jointly promote audiovisual exchanges between China and Arab countries as well as the development and growth of the audiovisual industry!

Saeed Alhefeiti, Director General of the Office of the Crown Prince of Fujairah Emirate in the UAE, said in his speech that friendly exchanges between China and Arab countries date back to ancient times, and he had been in the media field for many years and been in contact with many media representatives from China. Through visiting the “Beijing New Audiovisual” Pavilion and participating in the “Night of Beijing” international exchange event, he experienced rapid changes in China and hoped that there would be more such opportunities to exchange with Chinese friends in the future. In the end, he wished this event a complete success.
Wang Peixian, General Manager of Tianjin Wenhao Technology Development Co., Ltd., spoke on behalf of exhibitors from “Beijing New Audiovisual” Pavilion. She thanked the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau for carefully organizing various activities. As a member of “Beijing New Audiovisual” Pavilion at CABSAT2023, she could meet many friends and partners through various activities, and witness the continuous development and extension of China-Arab friendship and cooperation bonds. In this exhibition, “Beijing New Audiovisual” Pavilion focused on international cooperation in radio and television and online audiovisual technology, helping audiovisual technology enterprises go abroad, and jointly building a third-party cooperation platform. In this way, China can further implement the national strategy of coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, and promote win-win cooperation between China and Arab countries.
Maryam Al Khoory, Senior President of Dubai TV, said in his speech that he hoped to deepen cooperation with Chinese media in content and technology fields. Nowadays, more and more Arab audiences are fond of Chinese films and TV shows through which they understand China. She took this opportunity to extend an invitation to everyone present to pay attention to Dubai TV and learn more about the Arab world. She believed that there exists a vast space for cooperation between China and Arab countries, and this event was just the beginning. She also hoped there would be opportunities to visit China and communicate face-to-face with more Chinese colleagues in the future.
After the opening of “Night of Beijing” international exchange event, the attendees launched free exchanges. Through activities and free exchanges, Beijing-Tianjin exhibitors from “Beijing New Audiovisual” Pavilion had a deeper understanding of the market demand in the Middle East, and established contacts with overseas institutions interested in cooperation, thus expanding their overseas market coverage.
The year 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the “Belt and Road Initiative”, and international exchanges and cooperations on radio and television and online audiovisual technology have become an important part of the Initiative. In recent years, the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau maintains close ties with other radio and television and online audiovisual technology organizations in countries along the “Belt and Road Initiative”, including the UAE. The successful holding of “Night of Beijing” international exchange event effectively promotes mutual understanding and gathers consensus on international cooperations among countries along the “Belt and Road Initiative”, and further enhances cultural exchanges and people-to-people bonds between China and Arab countries. All these efforts will greatly contribute to new audiovisual exchanges and cooperations between China and Middle Eastern countries.
