Boville, a small town surrounded by towering mountains, has long been known for its gloomy and damp climate. The villagers have always cursed the mountain they call “The Hateful Sleeper,” as it keeps the sun away and the rain falling forever.
But, a young girl named Alma, who has always been fascinated by the mountain, discovers that things were not always as they are now. Determined to find out why Boville had become so damp and dreary, Alma sets out on a secret and dangerous quest to the top of The Hateful Sleeper, accompanied by her faithful cat Oyster. The pursuit leads to a surprising discovery, and as a result, the town is transformed into a beautiful place, with green plants and flowers blooming everywhere. As a result, the town is renamed “Beauville,” meaning “Beautiful Town.”

Mitchell, born in New York City into a family of professors, has always been surrounded by books. Her parents frequently read fairytales, myths, and classic children’s books aloud to their children, instilling a love for reading in her at a young age. She has illustrated many children’s books for major publishers and has written many children’s stories. Mitchell held a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Art History and did extensive graduate studies in Archaeology and Anthropology.
