Dereck Mpofu multi talented musician, activist, humanitarian, philanthropist

Dereck Mpofu is an Afrofusion songster, songwriter and pantomime from Harare, Zimbabwe. He’s also a Zimbabwean musician who rose to fame after his song” ChisikanaChangu Zimbabwe” came a megahit. Mpofu uses creative generalities and the media to reach out to people on environment and health issues and he loves humanity, is tone-driven and garners for unique initiatives. He has traveled around Africa to bear a communication on environmental and health issues. The fashionability of the song redounded in him being appointed a goodwill environmental ambassador for Zimbabwe under the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate and City of Harare, is a passionate artiste, musician and multinistrumentalist from the fine border city of Plumtree born and bred to a soldier in the border city of Mutare.

He’s largely regarded by peers and patrons as an innovative musician, philanthropist, author, columnist, environmentalist, and social entrepreneur who passion is to produce music that addresses social issues like the terrain, gender equality and health. He’s a colonist who has led messaging into uncharted territories in terms of the tools at our disposal to beget social change especially in what affects our tomorrow. He banded with Nigerian artist Kunle Ayo, South African stars Winnie Khumalo and Teddy Bears, Botswana’s Amantle, Spiza and Bouncy, Norry Malonga from the Democratic Republic of Congo together with original artists Alexio Kawara, Esther Mukazika, Ras Caleb and Willis Wataffi on the song against internationalism, we’re African — No to Xenophobia. Mpofu wrote the Little Green ministers Book. Mpofu is the first child in a family of four and he’s Ndebele and firstly from Plumtree. His father is a sheltered dogface. Dereck Mpofu is a shining music star, his musical trip started at the age of six when he realized his gift and remained focused on nurturing it. Dereck was born in the late 80’s in Mutare. He attended his primary education at Baring Primary School, also Mutare Boys High School before proceeding to Upperview Theological College. His music journey started in 2004, when he was still in academy when Ivy Kombo came for a campaign together with Bishop Kasi. He got an occasion to perform on stage alongside them and they loved his talent.

Mpofu said he has four marketable compendiums and produced first ‘Handisirini’ in 2008 which performed fairly well on the request. He the youthful artist and able to always loved music and set up his voice at the age of six. He got his alleviation from Michael Jackson and Jabu Khanyile in the way that they revolutionized art. “Music has opened new avenues in my life. I’m Zimbabwe’s Environmental Ambassador as well as a health champion. The music assiduity has showed me the world. I’ve travelled each over the world and have access to numerous people who enthrall high positions in the society. All I can say is God has blessed me indeed and I ’m thankful”. “The topmost challenge I faced in the music assiduity is breaking into a large followership. It takes times for people to appreciate your music and requires a lot of work to be known each over. fiscal benefits from the music business are missing at the moment due to lack of a proper industry,”. The artist has interest in charity work. He’s hoping to start projects which will target the less privileged in the country. He’s also interested in health and terrain advocacy. “I anticipate to grow my brand locally, regionally as well as internationally.”
