Dream Space: Art & Social Justice Experience

Dream Space transforms a center city art gallery into a space of collective imagination and celebration. Come to experience wellness workshops including breath work and meditation; a community action panel featuring social justice leaders; and a live poetry and music showcase featuring some of Philly’s top emerging artists and musicians.

PHILADELPHIA, PA – October 17, 2022 – Dream Space was curated to bring the community together to tap into the power of our collective imagination and visualize the future we deserve; using mediums of visual art, wellness workshops, and the medicine of music and spoken word.

Come and view social justice inspired art installations from Black and Indigenous Philly based artists; Anna Kim; Edgard Zayas; Tykira Octaviah; Dollie Michelle; Kali Studios; Julian Moore-Griffin of AuFFLUENT Media; Rae.Dianz of Rhapsody by Rae; and Iris Bonner of These Pink Lips. Art installations are on display in the gallery from 12pm-6pm.

The event begins with collective art experiences and  wellness workshops including “Ubuntu-Creating Our Community Vision” by Lenora Magee and a Breathwork session led by Sarahn Sankofa

Workshops will end at 2pm where guests are then invited to join the conversation during our community action panel titled “Unified Action”. Panelists include Brandi Blocker Anderson (Chief Racial Equity Strategist for the CIty of Philadelphia), Reuben Jones (Frontline Dads), Rashaun Williams (National Coalition of Black Reparations Philadelphia), Khalia D. Pitts (Our Mothers’ Kitchen)and Brandee Blocker Anderson (Chief Racial Equity Strategist for The CIty of Philadelphia).

During this conversation, panelists will be discussing the visions, models, and actions that social justice leaders and community members can use to move towards their unified goals.

Experience the essence of Philadelphia with dj sets, poetry and live music performances from emerging and established artists such as Neptune XXI, Dave G., Jordan Brown, Chaithu Natar, Essence Natay, and Shirmina Geneva.

Food and soft drinks will be served a la carte by local vendors.
