Bellhop Announces Move-By-The-Minute Platform Update

In 2011, Bellhop became the nation’s first digital moving platform — empowering users to conveniently book and pay for moving services online. Bellhop movers, also known as “Pros,” use Bellhop’s workforce-facing app to schedule their jobs, manage customer communication, and even accept tips. Now, Bellhop is the first digital moving platform to offer move-by-the-minute capabilities.

The platform’s billing update is currently rolling out to users across the nation. Here’s how it works:

• Customers receive a QR code via text and email the day before their scheduled move. The code can also be accessed via the customer’s online dashboard.
• When the Move Captain overseeing the job arrives on-site, they scan the QR code on the customer’s phone to start the clock on the job.
• As each additional team member arrives on-site, they scan a QR code on the captain’s phone to clock in.
• At the end of the move, the captain scans the customer’s QR code once more to end the job and stop the clock.
• Once the move is complete, the customer is billed for the total time spent on the move by each individual team member, down to the minute.

Bellhop is the only moving company with this technology. Internal developers built the new capabilities from scratch to solve a common problem across not only the moving industry, but the service sector as a whole.

In Bellhop’s testing of the Move-By-The-Minute update, they found:

• Increased transparency. The update does not significantly change the average move duration, labor hours, or runover time from the original estimate — but the increased transparency and more accurate billing offer peace of mind to customers and movers alike.
• Improved estimate accuracy. The number of final invoices that came in at or under the originally quoted amount increased by 28%.
• Fewer customer service issues. The added transparency also decreased the frequency of time-related customer disputes by 18%.
