Family Enterprise USA Arranges Family Businesses to Meet Congress Members Prior to Private Company Governance 2.0 Summit

Capitol Hill Visits, Sponsored by Family Enterprise USA and the Policy and Taxation Group, to Address Critical Family and Private Business Issues

America’s family business owners will be meeting with members of Congress on June 15 to discuss the critical issues facing this $7.7 trillion part of the US economy.

The Capitol Hill meetings, organized and sponsored by Family Enterprise USA and the Policy and Taxation Group, are connected to the 10th Annual Private Company Governance 2.0 Summit, which runs from June 15 -17 here.

The visits with members of Congress, a first for the conference, will be available only to attendees and will take place on June 15 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 3 p.m. Each legislator meeting will last 20 to 30 minutes. Meetings will be followed by a lunch on Capitol Hill. During the lunch, attended by Ways and Means staff members, a briefing will be held to present the recent results of the Family Enterprise USA Annual Survey, as well as the details of the formation of a new Congressional Family Business Caucus.

“We’re excited to be able to add this new dimension of in-person meetings with members of Congress to this important conference,” said Pat Soldano, president, Family Enterprise USA and Policy and Taxation Group. The two organizations advocate for America’s family enterprises. “These face-to-face meetings are key in getting the important story of America’s family businesses out to legislators,” Soldano said. “It is critical legislators understand the dire nature of many of the issues facing these businesses and the communities in which they operate.”

There are 32 million family businesses in the U.S, 75% of which have been around for 30 years or more. Family businesses in America consist of 23.7% in manufacturing, 10.4% in construction/facilities, and 9.75% in real estate, the research shows.

Over 45% of family businesses ranked new income taxes as their biggest tax worry, new research shows. Estate taxes, commonly known as The Death Tax, is the second biggest tax concern.

Private Company Governance 2.0 Summit brings together executives, owners and directors of private and family-owned companies. Speakers include top family enterprise board members, family business executives, and thought leaders who will inspire new ways to approach board service in a post-pandemic world. Family Enterprise USA and The Policy and Taxation group are supporting sponsors.

Attendees interested in meeting with members of Congress will be assisted by Family Enterprise USA staff. Please contact Family Enterprise USA for more details on this exciting new addition to the conference.
