TheMillionDollarNFT, a new non-fungible token (NFT) project, has announced its launch as the world’s first advertising-focused NFT to help businesses market themselves online without the traditional difficulty and expense.
The TheMillionDollarNFT project resembles a large online billboard with 1,000 spots currently represented as vacant squares on a rectangular surface. Each square, or digital advertising space, can be purchased by companies or individual advertisers looking to promote a product or service with their company logo, QR code, or webpage link. The first project of its kind, this historic NFT ensures companies and individuals can attract global web traffic in today’s digital economy. Once all spaces are sold, the grid will be converted into a timeless NFT and sold to provide advertisers with life-long promotion potential.

The TheMillionDollarNFT was founded by Gijs Knoester, an accomplished 21-year old entrepreneur from the Netherlands and a 2021 graduate of the International Business course. Passionate about starting and supporting companies, Gijs recognized how difficult digital advertising could be in the modern online world. He set out to create a new avenue for companies, including start-ups, to unlock the powerful effects of advertising with a twenty-first-century approach that uses NFTs. The project was inspired by The Million Dollar Homepage, a 2005 project by 21-year-old college student Alex Tew that went viral around the world.
Part of the project’s proceeds will go to charities designated by each advertiser, while another percentage will be used to support additional NFT projects for companies.
