Nonprofit Marketing Leader and PrideFull Festival Director Supports Authentic Representation.

In a media landscape where nuanced, inclusive stories remain underrepresented, marketing professional and festival director Joohee Oh stands out as a committed advocate for authenticity and equity. As a co-founder and Festival Director of PrideFull, a New York-based film festival dedicated to Queer and Trans People of Color, Oh has forged a career elevating underheard voices. Drawing on more than a decade of experience marketing for non-profit organizations and mission-driven projects, she has shaped a vital platform that connects filmmakers and audiences, cultivates community, and amplifies the power of film as a tool for cultural transformation.

“We are thrilled that Joohee Oh’s curatorial leadership and marketing expertise continue to enhance our mission of bringing the voices of Queer and Trans People of Color to the forefront,” commented Nabin Park, Executive Director of PrideFull. “Her dedication helps ensure that each year’s festival is not only a film event but an inclusive and dynamic community experience.”

For the past four years, Oh has served at the helm of PrideFull, guiding its growth from a seed of an idea into a flourishing cultural event that consistently showcases groundbreaking films centered on LGBTQIA2S+ communities of color. Having launched during the COVID-19 pandemic and right after the Black Lives Matter movement, PrideFull set out to challenge industry norms by creating a safe, accessible space for both artists and audiences to gather, discover, and engage with innovative, socially impactful works.

Under Oh’s marketing leadership, PrideFull has expanded its reach and visibility within the film industry and beyond. Her strategic marketing insight ensures that the festival’s unique identity, grounded in genuine community-building and accessible programming, resonates with supporters and newcomers alike. She has curated timely, compelling film programs that reflect and respect the lived experiences of audiences, garnering audience feedback that highlights the festival’s unique approach. Attendees have praised PrideFull as one of the most considerate and accessible film festivals they have ever experienced, noting that its programming deeply aligns with their personal interests and identities.

Before joining PrideFull, Oh contributed her marketing and programming acumen to respected platforms including Creatively Speaking, Women Make Movies, the Film Festival for Women’s Rights, and the Seoul Independent Film Festival. Her professional history underscores her dedication to ensuring that powerful, authentic stories receive the attention they deserve. As PrideFull continues to grow, Oh remains committed to fostering dialogue, representation, and appreciation for the rich tapestry of QTBIPOC narratives.
