On December 11, the 2024 Create@ “Future Mobility” Global Innovation Competition finals came to a perfect end in Shanghai. The competition was guided by the Shanghai Pudong New Area Science and Technology and Economic Committee and the Shanghai Jinqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee, and jointly hosted by Shanghai Jinqiao (Group) Co., Ltd., Alibaba Cloud Computing Co., Ltd. and BMW China Service Ltd., and honored by Ruigu Science and Technology Innovation. It aims to gather global wisdom, further promote the innovation and application of technologies such as AI+, new energy vehicles, and Internet of Vehicles, accelerate the intelligent and green transformation of urban travel, and inject strong vitality into industrial upgrading and economic take-off.
Shen Xuechu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and researcher at the Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences , Lv Dongsheng , secretary of the Party Leadership Group and director of the Jinqiao Administration Bureau of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone Administration Committee and director of the Shanghai Jinqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone Administration Committee, Wang Gang , deputy director of the Science and Technology and Economic Commission of Pudong New Area, Zhu Lili, member of the Party Committee and vice general manager of Jinqiao Group, Dragana Kostic , vice president of BMW Asia Pacific Technical Center, Qian Guobing, government and enterprise division of Alibaba Cloud, and other leaders and experts attended the event and witnessed the birth of various awards of the competition.
Since the competition was launched in September, it has received great attention and strong public response. The organizing committee received more than 310 project applications from all over the country, covering and gathering thousands of dual-innovation talents, and 37 projects stood out and advanced to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, each project fully demonstrated its own innovation strength and market potential. After evaluation by the organizing committee, a total of 16 companies advanced to the finals.

As the wave of energy transformation surges, we are standing at a critical juncture in the transformation of transportation energy. Exploring efficient, clean and sustainable new energy solutions have become our core mission to promote future mobility upgrades.
Shen Xuechu, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a researcher at the Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics, said in his speech that new energy is a major issue for national security and people’s livelihood. New energy is an interdisciplinary subject, not just physics, not just chemistry, not just mechanics, battery information, it requires comprehensive scientific capabilities, and talent training is very important.
Practice is an important part of talent cultivation, and the 2024Create@ “Future Mobility” Global Innovation Competition provides a stage for practice. The morning and afternoon sessions of the finals of the competition will each hold 8 project finals roadshows, with experts from the industry and academia serving as judges, including Hu Ping, managing partner of Morningside Venture Capital, Ding Hao, partner of Boyuan Capital, Hua Yiqun, investment director of CMC Capital, Han Wenxuan, deputy general manager of Boquan Capital, Guo Guanheng, vice president of investment of Multidimensional Capital, Pan Hong, visiting professor of Fudan University and East China Normal University, Li Jun, entrepreneurship guidance expert of Shanghai, Zhao Feng, entrepreneurship guidance expert of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Human Resources and Social Security, Science and Technology, Yin Zhicheng, outstanding science and technology entrepreneurship mentor of Shanghai, Qian Wenying, secretary general of China-Europe AI and Management Innovation Research Center, and other experts from the industry and academia.
The finals adopt the “8+7” model, that is, the project roadshow lasts for 8 minutes and the judges ask questions for 7 minutes. The judges evaluate the performance of the project from five dimensions: “technical innovation”, “development potential”, “market positioning”, “team competitiveness” and “on-site performance”.
The 16 shortlisted projects cover all links of the upstream and downstream industrial chain of the “future mobility” track, including road infrastructure construction, intelligent driving solutions, automobile industrial manufacturing, new energy vehicle energy storage, etc., and use new technologies such as artificial intelligence and AR augmented reality to solve various problems encountered in the digital transformation of the automobile and travel industry chain, laying a good foundation for the future development of travel.
Zhaobian (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd. was unanimously recognized by the judges and became the biggest winner of the competition. It is mainly engaged in the research and development of vehicle-road cooperative traffic control technology, and has a complete set of products including vehicle-road cooperative edge computing equipment, cloud control platform, evaluation equipment, roadside communication unit, vehicle-mounted assisted driving equipment, and integrated radar vision machine.
Suzhou Shenbo Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., which won the second prize, is committed to the research and development of smart seats and photoelectric products; Shanghai Zhongdiao Information Technology Co., Ltd. is committed to the research and development of big data intelligent engine solutions; Zhengcheng Intelligent Information Technology (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd., Hangzhou Zhuoyin Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., Suzhou Boyu Technology Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Taiyi Micro-travel Aerospace Technology Co., Ltd., which won the third prize and the Technology Innovation Award, are respectively involved in the research and development of data engine solutions, CNC technology, etc.

Autonomous driving technology will completely change the way we travel

Zhang Zailong, Professor at the School of Internet of Things, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, said in his speech that intelligent network technology is the use of autonomous driving, Internet of Vehicles, intelligent transportation and other means to achieve all-round connection and intelligent collaboration among vehicles, roads and people. The background is mainly traffic accidents, energy, congestion and other issues. The current mainstream of autonomous driving technology should be L2 and L3, and will gradually reach L5 (fully autonomous driving) in the future. In the future, autonomous driving will integrate sensor technology, artificial intelligence decision-making and other means to move towards greater intelligence and safety.
Zhang Zailong said that after autonomous driving gradually breaks through from the current L3 to L5 , autonomous driving technology will cover larger-scale commercial scenarios in the future and completely change the way people travel.
At the panel discussion, Professor Zhang Zailong from the School of Internet of Things, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Professor Ye Jianhong from the School of Transportation of Tongji University, Ding Hao, partner of Boyuan Capital, Guo Guanheng, vice president of Multidimensional Capital Investment, and Yang Xi, industry analyst at 36Kr, discussed the development, innovation and future trend of smart transportation. In Ye Jianhong’s view, the coordinated development of intelligent connected vehicles and smart cities requires the integration of the three elements of automobiles, transportation and cities at the top level. Among them, the empowerment of intelligent connected vehicles on transportation is more obvious, and it is worth further exploration in both business model and operation model.
