Award-Winning Documentary “Journey to the Heart of the Andes” Reveals Ancient Peruvian Wisdom Through Scientist’s Spiritual Transformation

Former biology professor Fabiola Baughman’s debut documentary “Journey to the Heart of the Andes” has won six film festival awards, including Best Documentary at the Las Vegas International Film Festival, for its exploration of Peruvian shamanic wisdom. The film chronicles Baughman’s personal journey back to Peru, where she reconnects with her ancestral heritage and transforms from scientist to shaman, while sharing insights on accessing inner power through connection with nature.

Journey to the Heart of the Andes, a documentary exploring the ancient wisdom passed down by generations of Peruvian shamans, and the secrets of the mountains, has been cited as the winner of 6 film festival awards.

Created by Fabiola Baughman, the film follows her journey as she leaves her career as a scientist and biology professor in the U.S. to return to her homeland. Once in Peru, she reconnected with the Andean people, the sacred shamans, and her ancestral heritage.

Despite having no previous filmmaking experience, Baughman was guided by the “Apus,” the mountain spirits, to create Journey to the Heart of the Andes – and she listened. The film serves as a call to action for those seeking deep spiritual growth.

Recognized as a shaman and clairvoyant herself, Baughman reveals how viewers can reconnect with the earth to access their inner power.

The awards that Journey to the Heart of the Andes has received to date include:

  • Best Documentary (Tier 1), the Las Vegas International Film Festival
  • An Impact Docs Award, recognizing its power to inspire change
  • 3 Awards of Merit – The Accolade Global Film Competition for Documentary Feature, Hispanic Theme, and Viewer Impact: Motivational/Inspirational
  • Best Director Feature Film – the Hollywood International Golden Age Festival

Said Baughman, “Every scene in this film transformed my life, rekindling a deep connection to the wisdom of Pachamama (Mother Earth). I believe this film holds the same potential for you, the viewer — to reconnect you to the essence of who you are, to your lineage, and to the boundless love our planet has for us, her children.”
