“Reviewed By Miche Arendse for Readers’ Favorite

The Exiled: A Web of Lies: Book 1 by Jason Leigh Smith follows the adventures of Captain Selouteau of the Elven Armada and her companions as they seek a way to overcome the newest enemies that have arrived on the shores of Belissia. When Selouteau is ordered to find the Prince of Ez, even though it might be seen as an act of treason, she realizes just how dire their circumstances have become. On her journey, she discovers various truths and even more lies, and she comes to realize that nothing is as it seems in her world.

The Exiled by Jason Leigh Smith is a riveting and action-packed novel with a vast world, unique characters, and an amazing magic system. I absolutely loved the concept of enermancy and found the various uses for each type of magic refreshing and new. I also enjoyed the world-building for The Exiled, seeing the landscapes described and learning about the different races that exist in Belissia. Smith managed to create such an amazing and expansive world while still focusing on the main story. It truly shows a talent for writing. I also think the characters were well fleshed out and although most of the focus is centered on Selouteau, we saw enough of the other characters for me to have fallen for Perch. I felt that he was such an excellent supporting character and every scene he was in was amusing. Overall, The Exiled is a fantastic book and I would definitely recommend it.”
