Opens First U.S. Location in Chicago, Riding the Korean Wave to Expand into the U.S. and Southeast Asia

FunBeerKing, a popular Korean dining franchise by Fun & I Corporation, announced on November 8 (local time) that it has officially entered the global market by opening its first U.S. location in Chicago.

The first overseas branch, “FunBeerKing USA,” is located near the southeast corner of the Milwaukee-Lake intersection in Glenview, Illinois, within Glenview Commons, a popular destination known for its “one-stop shopping” experience.

The 1,950-square-foot location offers seating for 60 guests, including group seating for up to eight people. The interior, inspired by K-pop music videos, features vibrant colors like pink, blue, and purple, complemented by atmospheric neon lights, creating a unique and immersive atmosphere. A large projector screen enhances the gastropub vibe, combining a modern aesthetic with culinary appeal.

The term “gastropub” originates from “gastronomy,” meaning a pub that focuses on gourmet food. True to its name, FunBeerKing offers a wide selection of beers, along with popular Korean soju and cocktails, providing a diverse drinking experience. FunBeerKing aims to introduce a fresh dining concept for the Korean-American community and local customers in Chicago by combining flavor and enjoyment.

FunBeerKing has also curated a special menu to appeal to local tastes, featuring signature items like Pastry Pizza, Shrimp Towering, Ice Fruit Punch, and a popular K-food staple, “Whole Squid Tteokbokki Platter.” The Glenview location is celebrating its opening with various promotions and has garnered attention in the local Korean commercial district with its unique, custom-made packaging for convenient takeout.
