Inbound Tourism to Suzhou Continues to Surge, with a Year-on-year Growth of Nearly 100% in the First Seven Months of This Year

With the robust recovery of global tourism and the further openness of China’s travel market, policies such as the 144-hour visa-free transit and group travel visa-free have driven a surge in inbound tourism to Suzhou, located in southeastern Jiangsu Province, East China. In the first seven months of this year, Suzhou welcomed 495,000 overnight inbound tourists, marking a year-on-year growth of 97.9%. This remarkable increase underscores the strong vitality of Suzhou’s inbound tourism market and signifies the accelerated recovery of its tourism industry.

“Travel China, Visit Suzhou.” This is Suzhou’s sincere invitation to the world. As “China Travel” sweeps across the globe, “Suzhou Travel” is also garnering increasing international attention with its unique charm.

From September 25th to 26th, a massive poster of oriental gardens was stunningly unveiled in the central business districts of London, UK, and Auckland, New Zealand. The picturesque scenery of Suzhou depicted on the poster captivated passersby, who paused to admire it and exclaimed in awe, “China is so vast; where is Suzhou? I’d love to visit!”

In Suzhou, visitors can admire the beauty of ancient garden architecture, experience the unique charm of historic towns and streets, appreciate how technology enhances everyday life, and savor the delights that local cuisine brings to both body and soul. Once you set foot on this land, surprises await at every turn.

Many international tourists have recorded their 24-hour journeys in Suzhou on their devices, sharing them on overseas social media platforms, where their posts garnered millions of exposures and received widespread attention and likes from global audiences.

Czech influencer Zina, who has nearly 6 million followers online, paid tribute to traditional Su-style noodles, experienced the beauty of silk, and enjoyed a night tour of the Master of the Nets Garden during her 24-hour stay in Suzhou. British influencer Jason, with over a million followers, remarked, “Music is a universal language, and for the first time in Suzhou, I felt the charm of China’s ‘Shakespeare’—Tang Xianzu.” Additionally, Canadian influencer Jared donned a Hanfu and joined the “travel photography” crowd, capturing striking photos that perfectly blend with Suzhou’s ancient architecture.

The influencers captured their wonderful experiences in Suzhou in their own unique ways, and these videos went viral on overseas social media platforms, introducing Suzhou to even more international audiences.

To further promote the development of inbound tourism in Suzhou and live up to the expectations and love of overseas tourists for Suzhou, in May this year, the Suzhou Municipal People’s Government issued the “Several Measures to Promote Suzhou Inbound Tourism (Trial),” which includes ten incentives across three areas: encouraging tourists to visit and stay in Suzhou, expanding overseas tourism markets, and improving the inbound tourism environment.

A thousand words are not worth a sincere meeting. The world is vast, China is beautiful, and Suzhou is waiting for you to discover its wonders. Suzhou welcomes you.
