About the Author

Edith Wigoda Gudes was born in 1945 in San Jose, Costa Rica. When she was twenty-one years old, she married and immigrated with her husband, Luis, to the United States. During the first four years, she lived in Chicago, New Orleans, Houston and finally settled in Miami, where she has lived for fifty-four years. She has three children and six grandchildren. Her first book, “Tracing My Steps,” is a collection of short stories about her life in Costa Rica, where she narrates her family’s experiences as new Jewish immigrants in a “heavenly land” and how life changed after she moved to the United States. Her second book, “A Leap of Faith, Stories of Immigrants,” is a compendium of five different stories. The cores of the tales are based on real life; nevertheless, they are embellished with imagination. These fictional tales are about the experiences of people who left their homeland in a leap of faith, searching for a better future and facing hardships and joys.
