Cali Scolari carries forward the brilliant legacy of her Hollywood family’s comedic genius, lighting up the big screen in the teen-girl karens-gone-wild wilderness survival movie The Wilde Girls. Portraying lead character Mattie Wilde with a natural gift for humor, Cali Scolari seamlessly proves that talent runs deep in her veins. Produced by Susan Goforth and written and directed by Timothy Hines, The Wilde Girls is currently wrapping post-production.

Cali Scolari, daughter of late actors Peter Scolari and Cathy Trien, is making her highly anticipated feature film debut in The Wilde Girls, directed by Timothy Hines. A graduate of the prestigious Stella Adler Studio of Acting, Scolari stars as Mattie Wilde, a wealthy teenage New York socialite whose life takes an unexpected turn in this comedic take on wilderness survival.

In The Wilde Girls, Scolari’s character, Mattie, is forced to confront a brutal reality. Alongside her extroverted, equally spoiled sister Tinsley Wilde (played by Lydia Pearl Pentz), the two sisters are thrown into survival mode when they are stranded in the untamed, Depression-era forests of Washington State. The once-pampered heiresses are left to fend for themselves after their fortune is stolen by their scheming aunts, Beatrice and Florence Wilde (played by Susan Goforth and Heidi Kravitz). The girls, accustomed to high-society luxury, are completely unprepared for the harsh wilderness.

Their situation worsens when they meet Mr. Button (Matt Silver), a man sent to transport them to their new home—who is actually a hitman hired to ensure they never return to society. Through a series of comedic missteps, the girls accidentally run over Mr. Button with his own Model-T, leaving them stranded and facing the unforgiving wilderness on their own. From bear attacks to sheer ineptitude, the sisters’ only chance at survival comes when they encounter reclusive mountain man Silas Colter (Teddy Smith), who wants nothing to do with the spoiled teens but reluctantly becomes their unlikely guide.

“The film is a humorous exploration of personal growth, survival, and transformation,” says director Timothy Hines, whose previous credits include Tomorrow’s Today (starring Kelly Le Brock and Rocky alum Burt Young) and 10 Days In A Madhouse (starring Christopher Lambert and Kelly Le Brock). “It’s about learning to forgive others for their wrongdoings and coming to terms with our own flaws. Life is messy, and people often clash as their paths intersect, but the real growth happens when we’re forced to evolve beyond who we thought we were.”

Born into an acting legacy, Cali Scolari grew up surrounded by her parents’ craft. Her father, Peter Scolari, is best known for his roles in Bosom Buddies (alongside his friend Tom Hanks), Newhart, and his Emmy-winning performance in Girls. Her mother, Cathy Trien, was a well-regarded stage and screen actress. Both of her parents tragically passed away in 2021, but Cali’s love for acting has always been her guiding light. She honed her skills at the Professional Performing Arts School in NYC before graduating from the Stella Adler Conservatory in 2021. After numerous short films and student projects, Scolari now steps into the leading role of Mattie Wilde in The Wilde Girls.

“I am so thrilled to work with Cali,” beams director Timothy Hines. “She’s a powerhouse talent — exceptionally trained, with an innate ability to bring Mattie’s bookish, introverted, yet compassionate nature to life. Watching her and Lydia Pearl Pentz together as sisters was nothing short of magic. Their chemistry was uncanny, like they truly grew up in the same world. They are the Wilde sisters in every sense.”

Producer Susan Goforth, who also stars as one of the conniving aunts, agrees: “Cali brought an immediate spark to Mattie Wilde. She’s got that perfect balance of charm and humor, and when paired with Lydia as Tinsley, the two are comedy gold. The contrast between them is exactly what makes great comedic duos. When I saw them together, I knew we had our Wilde Girls, and they are going to be a force when the film is released.”
