The Machine Company’s Reverse Vending Machine Shines at Coca-Cola’s Recycle and Reward Activation

The Machine Company is thrilled to announce its successful partnership with Coca-Cola in a groundbreaking ‘Recycle and Reward’ activation

Tasked with creating a custom concept that aligns with Coca-Cola’s sustainability initiatives, The Machine Company deployed – for the first time – its Reverse Vending Machine, popularly known as the recycling vending machine because it is designed with recycling sensors to reward users for recycling. The activation leveraged these custom Reverse Vending Machines to engage consumers, rewarding them with exciting prizes for recycling plastic bottles and cups.

The Machine Company’s smart machine toured events in the US, including the Special Olympics, where it was exceptionally well received for demonstrating how smart machines and software experiences can be used as tools for brand engagement and to deliver sustainability messaging for brands.

Since its inception, The Machine Company has been turning heads with its custom Smart Vending Machines that continue creating exciting and interactive brand experiences and promoting eco-friendly behaviors. The Machine Company’s Reverse Vending Machines are fitted with decorative LED light fixtures, which make them a standout addition to retail locations and events. The recycling vending machine stood out at the two locations, driving close to 3000 interactions as participants excitedly interacted with this curious vending machines. Their recycling efforts were rewarded with perks such as VIP upgrades, product samples, and branded merch. This encouraged recycling and helped Coca-Cola convey its message of sustainability.

This campaign successfully captured the flexibility of The Machine Company’s custom vending machines. Through its Smart Vending Machine technology, the company was able to fuse sustainability and customer engagement to support Coca-Cola’s “World Without Waste” vision, where the company aims to collect and recycle the same amount of bottles and cans it sells by 2030.
