Hope Law: A Mother, Patient, and Advocate is Leading the Fight Against Adrenal Cancer

Hope Law, a mother of three and an Adrenal Cancer (ACC) patient, has announced the launch of a nonprofit to raise $1 million for research at the National Institutes of Health. Her non-profit, Adrenal Cure Collective, is an initiative to help turn her life-altering diagnosis into a mission that will save lives.

Adrenal Cancer is a rare, one-in-a-million disease, and because of its rarity, funding for research is critically low. Moved by her personal experience and recognizing the hardships others face in similar situations, Hope Law has set an ambitious goal to raise $1,000,000 for ACC research.

“The ask is simple,” says Law. “We just need 1,000,000 people to donate $1. That’s it. Four quarters. It seems like a significant goal, but we will make it happen. The funds will be donated to the National Institutes of Health for the ongoing research of adrenal cancer led by Dr. Del Rivero, a renowned researcher in the field.”

Hope’s cancer battle came to light after a year of unexplained symptoms and a false lupus diagnosis. Following the cancellation of a birthday trip to Puerto Rico for her then 5-year-old twin boys and 12-year-old son due to Hurricane Fiona, she sought answers from two emergency rooms within the next 24 hours, knowing that her symptoms did not align with lupus. There, she received her adrenal cancer diagnosis. She spent the next five days in the hospital, missing all three of her sons’ birthdays. Even in the depths of her despair, she vowed that these would be the first and last birthdays she would ever miss.

“That night was supposed to be a celebration, but it became something much more significant,” says Law. “The cancellation of a family trip led me to discover the cancer that might have otherwise gone undiagnosed.”

Hope established Adrenal Cure Collective, a nonprofit organization. Today, Hope Law is the driving force behind the foundation, a patient-led nonprofit uniting patients impacted by ACC in the fight to save their own lives. With limited treatment options available, Law has recently positioned the Adrenal Cure Collective to acquire a sponsorship from Esteve. This pharmaceutical company produces the only chemotherapy drug accessible to ACC patients. This sponsorship marks a significant step forward in the fight against ACC and highlights Law’s relentless commitment to changing the narrative for those afflicted by this rare disease. As a part of their effort, one of their board member’s stories (Melinda Nelson, stage 4 ACC patient) was picked up by people.com and yahoo.com after her unexplained swelling turned out to be cancer on her adrenal gland.

“I want to be a reflection of hope, strength, and the power that can emerge when we come together collectively. I will spend the rest of my life fighting for every ACC patient, past, present, and future,” Law states. “Through our foundation,  we’re not just raising awareness — we’re mobilizing action and providing hope where there was once only despair.”

Hope Law’s journey began as a patient facing hopelessness and ended with her becoming a leader who motivates action and hope. Her unwavering commitment to raising awareness and funds for treatment is reaching people worldwide, improving the lives of ACC patients, and setting a model for how rare diseases can be actively and passionately addressed.
