Embark on a journey through a culinary wonderland, where traditional tastes and nostalgic dishes meet the innovation of Afro-futuristic cuisine. Local and regional vendors will showcase their mastery, using authentic techniques and food artifacts to bring you an unparalleled dining experience.
But that’s just the beginning. “A Taste of AfriKin” is more than an event—it’s a movement. Partnering organizations will find unique opportunities to elevate their brand, while the event itself shines a spotlight on North Miami as a vibrant tourist destination. With a strong focus on food, music, and lifestyle, this celebration also underscores a commitment to growing the arts, culture, and tourism sectors across Greater South Florida.
Councilman Scott Galvin of District 1 in North Miami remarked, “A Taste of AfriKin aligns seamlessly with our ‘Celebrate West Africa’ festivities, and I am honored to sponsor this event. It promises to be an enthralling fusion of culinary delights and soulful experiences, further establishing North Miami as a key hub for the celebration of Black cultural heritage.”
Join in as AfriKin honors the sophistication and elegance of Black culture, embracing the bold, creative design and vintage style that the AfriKin Foundation is renowned for. Come and #BeKin—immerse yourself in the delicacies, tradition, and Afro-futuristic boldness that defines the Black world’s heritage. Featuring cuisine from the following countries: the Bahamas, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Haiti, Jamaica, Nigeria, Senegal, Trinidad & Tobago, the United States and an Asian Fusion.
In the midst of the playful yet passionate “Jollof Wars” that pit countries like Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, and Sierra Leone against each other in the quest to claim the title of the best Jollof Rice, a new contender has entered the fray—Haiti! Proudly declaring that their traditional Djon Djon Rice, a fragrant black mushroom rice, is actually superior to Jollof, Haiti adds a delicious twist to the age-old debate. This lively culinary rivalry will be one of the many highlights at the upcoming “A Taste of AfriKin” event on Sunday, September 1st.
