ArtWorks™ Invites Legal Professionals to an Immersive Intellectual Property CLE Conference in Paris, France

Renowned Artist Elliott Arkin, Resident Intellectual Property Attorney Ghada Ghannam, and Nzengha “Zen” Waseme, Esq. will share their experience. The weekend includes The Inaugural Global IP Innovation Award Ceremony, which celebrates groundbreaking achievements in intellectual property on an international stage with honored guests that include members of the Madrid Protocol.

ArtWorks™ has announced its first Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Conference experience in Paris from Oct. 11-14, 2024. This immersive weekend aims to educate legal professionals on the intersection of art and law, with a particular focus on the crucial role of Intellectual Property (IP) in our global society.

Participants will embark on a unique journey that includes a tour of the Louvre Museum, exploring the convergence of art and intellectual property within one of the world’s most renowned museums. They will also delve into the legal complexities and historical significance of the Arc de Triomphe, and enjoy a boat tour along the Seine River, all while discussing global IP trends. A highlight of the weekend is the Inaugural Global IP Innovation Awards Ceremony planned to acknowledge the power of the Madrid Treaty benefiting the economic growth for countries that joined after the COVID-19 Pandemic.

ArtWorks™ aims to educate attorneys and other attendees on the economic and artistic value of Intellectual Property through a series of workshops, lectures, and IP art exhibit tours at the Louvre Museum. These sessions will highlight the intricate relationship between artistic expression and legal rights, featuring real-life stories of artists affected by copyright infringement.

The conference kicks off on Friday, Oct. 11, with a welcome reception, allowing attorneys, their guests, and other participants to unwind and immerse themselves in Paris. The evening includes a networking segment for legal professionals, an overview of the weekend’s activities, and an academic/CLE briefing.

Saturday, Oct. 12, will be dedicated to lectures at the Louvre, eligible for CLE credit. The sessions include Intellectual Property discussions from the Artist’s Perspective with Elliott Arkin, from an Attorney’s Perspective with Ghada Ghannam, and a Keynote lecture on Intellectual Property and International Law with Nzengha “Zen” Waseme, Esq. The day concludes with an awards ceremony honoring Madrid Treaty honorees including countries such as Jamaica, Dominica, Argentina, Pakistan, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago to name a few.

On Sunday, Oct. 13, participants will experience Paris from various angles.  They will enjoy a boat tour along the Seine and another module in the weekend’s Lecture and Q&A Series.  This one will take place at the Arc de Triomphe. The day will wrap up with a closing ceremony and brunch.

Monday, Oct.14, ArtWorks researched optional sites that attendees may visit: a museum and art crawl featuring locations such as Musée d’Orsay, and Musée du Quai Branly, and landmark tours including Versailles Palace, Sacre Coeur, and the Eiffel Tower.

This comprehensive conference includes CLE credit hours for Ethics and Professionalism, Skills & Application, Law and Practice Management, and Intellectual Property and International Law Areas of Professional Practice.  Law students may apply for academic credit through the ArtWorks Externship Program.
