The 200th Aircraft Joins, Sichuan Airlines Leads as the Main Force of Chengdu International Aviation Hub

On July 9th, Sichuan Airlines welcomed the addition of an A330 aircraft, B-32GX. This milestone marks Sichuan Airlines’ fleet, which consists entirely of Airbus aircraft, reaching a total of 200 planes. This achievement further supports Sichuan Airlines’ commitment to its roots in Sichuan, its base in Southwest China, its expansion nationwide, and its global connectivity. It also reinforces its role as a key player in Chengdu International Aviation Hub and developing a world-class airport cluster in the Chengdu-Chongqing region.

On that day, Sichuan Airlines held the “200 Airbuses Soar Through the Panda Route” themed event simultaneously at its lounges in Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, Kunming Changshui International Airport, and Beijing Capital International Airport. Passengers could interact and take photos to commemorate the occasion. Additionally, Sichuan Airlines hosted a themed event on flight 3U8885 from Chengdu to Beijing, where they distributed panda-themed meals and engaged passengers with surprise interactions.

By 2023, Sichuan Airlines had deployed 55 aircraft at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport. The number of international and regional routes operated during the summer season reached 35, covering 31 destinations. This has established an international transfer network centered around Chengdu, radiating comprehensively to Europe, North America, Oceania, Southeast Asia, and Northeast Asia. Furthermore, the growth momentum of international cargo business has also been robust. Currently, Sichuan Airlines Logistics has opened 9 international cargo routes, covering 8 countries in Europe and Asia.

In the next phase, Sichuan Airlines will use its 200-aircraft fleet as a core resource, focusing on building Chengdu as a primary international hub and accurately developing high-efficiency markets in the periphery. It aims to construct a multi-level, high-frequency, and highly convenient international passenger and cargo hub network that focuses on Southwest China, connects Europe and Asia, and radiates globally. This will contribute to the development of Chengdu International Aviation Hub and the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing world-class airport cluster.
