Making Summer a Blast in the New Smyrna Beach Area

The New Smyrna Beach Area is perfect for children to have fun in the sun and surf, make new friends, and build memories to last a lifetime. With limitless options for adventure, parents can find activities to suit all kids.

Art and Nature Camps

Let children explore their creative sides in one of the area’s many artistic-theme summer camps

In the Atlantic Center for the Arts camps, kids can explore the ideas of art and culture with their own hands in several sessions that include a variety of art forms. The sessions run Tuesday through Friday, 9 am to 2 pm, with time for lunch and relaxation.

For kids who thrive on performing, the Little Theater Musical Theater Summer Camp will let them blossom on stage. Children in grades 1 through 4 attend morning sessions, and those in grades 5 through 8 have afternoon camps. They’ll run through stage directions, the history of stage and screen performance, and, of course, all about Broadway through putting on scenes from popular shows and giving a grand performance at the end of each week of camp for their parents.

For nature-loving children, the adventure camps at the Marine Discovery Center are just the ticket. Participants are grouped by age to ensure the best experience for all. Let kids spend their summer learning about the area’s diverse environment through field trips, experiments, crafts, and “hands-on and feet-wet” exploration.

Enjoying Summer Days at the Beach

Of course, summer in the New Smyrna Beach Area means beach time. With 17 miles of white, sandy beaches to choose from, everyone can find the perfect spot, whether a secluded stretch or one packed with families, perfect for meeting new friends and playing impromptu games on the sand. Summer Surfing Fun

Surf’s up for summer learning at the Jimmy Lane Surfing Academy! Children will love spending their time learning to surf the waves. Camp participants can even compete in a surf contest near the end of summer. The academy offers a deal—book a 3-week prepaid block of camp time, and get a fourth week free, including board rental.

Indoor Playtime

Sometimes it’s good to get out of the sun and enjoy the nice, refreshing air-conditioning while still getting a chance to burn off some energy. The Jumpy Place in Edgewater offers open play in its bouncy castles on Fridays and Sundays, as well as afternoon on Saturdays. They also have the option of booking a party there, so kids can jump and bounce to their heart’s content with friends.

No matter what type of fun youngsters are interested in—learning, hands-on discovery, or just being a kid—the New Smyrna Beach Area offers such a variety of options, they’re sure to have great stories to tell about what they did over the summer when school starts in the fall.
