Lewisville, Texas, USA – April 17, 2024 – The immersive collection features nine large paintings, each paired with a specific emotional song to create an environment that takes attendees through various emotions. The show was recently exhibited at the Forrest and Virginia Green Mezzanine-Gallery at the Charles W. Eisemann Center in Richardson, Texas and on NBC Texas Today.
“Through sight and sound, I want attendees to experience different emotions in an immersive environment,” said Artist CJ Miller (Christopher John Miller). “By experiencing diverse feelings with only several feet of space between paintings, I invite the patron to experience just how transitory our emotional state is.”
The “Emotional Rollercoaster” exhibition will be available for viewing April 20 through May 25 with a special artist talk and reception scheduled for Saturday, May 18, from 4 p.m. through 8 p.m. Gallery hours for Lewisville Grand Theater are Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and during public events at the venue. The show can also be viewed by attendees during The ColorPalooza Festival Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Miller created each painting while listening to only one specific song that produced a strong emotional response in the artist. “I want to see if the viewer perceives the emotion of the song in the stroke and composition of the final work,” said Miller.
As you view and listen to each painting paired with a specific song, you will experience the expanse of human emotion, from happy to sad, melancholy to hopeful, and frustrated to reverent. Miller hopes that viewers will realize that emotions are part of the human experience, meant to be felt but not always acted upon, and meant to create empathy and understanding for others.
To further enhance the experience, visitors are encouraged to download the Spotify application on their phones before arriving, where they will have access to a personalized Spotify playlist while viewing the work. A QR code will be provided on-site to access the specific playlist accompanying the exhibition. Airpods and listening devices are not provided.
“Emotions make us feel human, and they connect us to others. While we come from diverse cultures, emotions traverse our differences,” said Miller.
