The establishment of a Gospel Hip Hop (GHH) and Christian Hip Hop (CHH) Hall of Fame was created to provide long-overdue recognition to artists who have made significant contributions to the genre. Pioneers and trailblazers who have shaped the landscape of Gospel & Christian hip hop to finally receive acknowledgment for their influence and impact on both the music industry and the christian community. The GHH & CHH Half of Fame prioritizes its recognition of christian hip hop pioneers along with the preservation of Christian hip hop history that will serve as inspiration for emerging artists as well as a platform for community engagement that would bridge between hip hop and christianity. The establishment of a gospel hip hop and christian hip hop Hall of Fame would elevate the genre, honor its pioneers, and provide a platform for continued growth, recognition, and community engagement within the christian hip hop community.
Emcee N.I.C.E’s significant contributions to the music, film and television industry not only solidified his selection by the committee to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, it solidified his life’s work. Emcee N.I.C.E., a has been a visionary in the music realm with a diverse portfolio of achievements for over three decades, where he has etched his name in history time and time again with more than 20+ (#1) chart-topping hits on both the Billboard and iTunes Charts, as well as the radio BDS charts. Distinguished awards recognition, Accomplished Author, an Actor, Entrepreneur, Philanthropist and Humanitarian.
His journey commenced in 1994 with “Lighter Shade of Brown,” (LSOB) where they became the first Latin rap group to land on the Billboard Top 200, Hot 100, R&B Top 50, and Rap Top 50 charts. Born in Los Angeles but raised in El Paso, Emcee N.I.C.E. emerged as Novelist, showcasing his talent as a singer, rapper, and producer.
In 2001, following the tragic loss of 2 Pac, Emcee N.I.C.E. and KansasCali were chosen to produce tracks for 2 Pac’s posthumous album “Better Dayz” (2002), co-producing the iconic “Thugz Mansion” featuring Nas and J. Phoenix. This collaboration soared to #1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top Rap Albums charts, and reached #5 on the Billboard Top 200, selling over 3 million copies. Their synergy extended further with “Thugz Mansion (NY)” finding its place on NAS’s #1 Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Album “God’s Son” (2002).
Throughout the new millennium, Emcee N.I.C.E. continued to collaborate with industry legends such as MC Lyte, Fred Hammond, Aaron Hall and K-Ci Hailey. His involvement with KansasCali led to appearances on eight prominent motion picture soundtracks, notably the Academy Award-winning film “Crash” (2006), featuring their song “If I…” appearing in the “special features” of the DVD that sold 5 million copies. His diverse contributions span beyond music, co-creating the groundbreaking African American Animated Music Series on Netflix, titled “Da Jammies.”
In 2010, he ventured into sports entertainment, collaborating with Mark Cuban to create the theme song for the NBA, “This Is Where Amazing Happens.” and his spiritual journey subsequently led him to transition into Christian rap, culminating in a remarkable feat in 2017 with six #1 record’s on the Billboard charts.
His dedication to uplifting Christian hip-hop culture led to the establishment of God’s House of Hip Hop Radio in partnership with Dash Radio (now LITTLIVE) in 2018, marking the first Christian/Gospel Hip Hop BDS Monitoring Station globally. Subsequently, in 2019, Emcee N.I.C.E. achieved another historic milestone as the first Hip Hop Gospel/Christian station to win a Stellar Award.
Beyond music, Emcee N.I.C.E. has garnered numerous accolades and distinctions, including the prestigious Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award, induction into the Gospel Hip Hop/Christian Hip Hop Hall of Fame, a Resolution from Senator Cesar J Blanco of Texas 29th District, Citation from Mayor Eric Adams of New York, Resolution from Mayor Emma Sharif of the city of Compton and appointments as Vice Chancellor of Harvest Christian University’s Compton’s Extension Campus along with a Ph.D. (Honoris Causa) in Music Business & Entrepreneurship and (Honoris Causa) Ph.D. in Humanitarian hooded on June 22, 2024.
His multifaceted career extends beyond music, with significant contributions to acting, having been on 15 different tv shows and movies from Netflix to FX, Fox & ABC. Emcee N.I.C.E. became a best selling author with his book “Music Release University: “The Indies Guide to Releasing Music!” He became an inventor and sits on the board as president of two foundations iTL Foundation (Information, Technology & Literacy) Foundation along with Urbanomic101 Foundation.
The event commenced on April 6 at 4:00 PM located at, the New Black Wall Street Market,which included esteemed inductees were Canton Jones, The Gospel Gangstaz, K-Drama, B.B. Jay, James Rousseau, DJ Wade-O’ and of course, Emcee N.I.C.E. This ceremony commemorated the remarkable achievements of these trailblazing artists and influential personalities.
