“Sticker,” a thriller about a social media influencer caught in the trap of AI

MooAm embarks on its second Cannes venture, made possible by the momentum of the youth

 

“TalkGPT, tell me how to get more followers.” A girl aspiring to become a social media influencer with 100,000 followers begins her “hunt” for followers in the psychological thriller series, “Sticker” (Director/Screenwriter Harry Hyun), which will be introduced at the Cannes International Series Festival.

MooAm Productions announced on the 23rd that its latest work, “Sticker,” is scheduled to appear in the 7th Cannes International Series Festival (Canneseries) in Cannes, France, in April 2024 under the “Korean Content” category. This is MooAm’s second entry into Cannes, following its first in 2023.

This thriller series follows the protagonist Yeonji, a social media influencer with 100,000 followers, relying on the AI advisor “TalkGPT (working title)” to help her increase her following to 1 million people. Things unravel as her decisions lead to unpredictable outcomes. This work criticizes the desire and voyeurism prevalent in modern society.

“Sticker” was chosen as a special project for planning and development support for OTT platforms under the support of the Korea Communications Agency (KCA). In October 2023, it received interest from a major investor during the International OTT Festival associated with the Busan International Film Festival.

“Sticker” was also selected for the broadcast/OTT overseas distribution project organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT, overseen by the KCA, and affiliated with the Cannes Festival, and will be introduced at the 7th Cannes International Series Festival (Canneseries) held from April 7 to 9.

At this event, MooAm will unveil the content IP and global distribution strategy for “Sticker” to global OTT services, investment companies, and buyers.

Director Harry Hyun stated that “the adaptation of ‘Sticker’ from a film to an OTT series served as an opportunity to meet a larger global audience” and that “this thriller depicts how AI and GPT technologies can be a double-edged sword for humanity and addresses key issues of modern society.”

Currently in the pre-production stage, “Sticker” is scheduled to begin filming in the second half of this year.

MooAm Productions is a creative team comprised of young directors and producers with an average age of 28. Since 2022, it has operated a unified system encompassing self-IP development, content production, and marketing. It is especially active in the K-content field (films, web dramas), and its independent film “Death Business,” based on the Luna Coin incident, has been submitted to international film festivals with a goal for release in theaters in the latter half of this year.
