On March 14th, 2024, Shincheonji Church of Jesus, Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, celebrated a significant milestone – its 40th anniversary. The commemorative ceremony, held at the esteemed Cheongpyeong Shincheonji Peace Training Center, drew over 30,000 devout attendees, with church members from across the globe joining via live online broadcast.
The event served as a poignant reflection on the remarkable journey of Shincheonji Church of Jesus since its inception on March 14, 1984, offering reverence to God. Visionary plans for the forthcoming year were unveiled, alongside a steadfast commitment to civic engagement and service, embodying the church’s ethos as agents of light and salt in society.
Meticulous attention to safety and order underscored the event’s success, with a comprehensive safety management plan meticulously executed. Leveraging insights gleaned from orchestrating three previous 100,000-strong graduation ceremonies, organizers ensured a seamlessly orchestrated affair. Attendees demonstrated exemplary civic responsibility, adhering diligently to guidelines and fostering a harmonious atmosphere.
The commemorative service unfolded with grace and solemnity, featuring an introduction to the historic occasion, a stirring commemorative video, and a retrospective on the rich history of Shincheonji. Chairman Lee delivered a compelling sermon, elucidating the significance of the church’s growth trajectory, grounded in God’s providence and unwavering faith.
Chairman Lee explained the meaning and background of the steady growth, saying, “(Shincheonji Church of Jesus) had a very humble beginning. However, many people have come to this day because God sent angels from heaven as stated in the Bible.”
He continued, “Jesus also gave up his whole body and wanted to do God’s will. So tod ay, we must not have blind faith, but we must know God and our wishes and have His will done.” He added, “We must follow God’s will and love our neighbors as ourselves” he emphasized.
Lastly, he said, “The number of people learning about the Book of Revelation, which is God’s purpose written in the Bible, is increasing. I am grateful,” and added, “Let’s ensure that more people are saved through the Word. Let’s work together to create a better w orld.”
In a rallying call to action, Chairman Lee championed the dissemination of God’s word, heralding a collective mission to enrich lives and foster a better world. The afternoon resonated with celebratory performances, a testament to the enduring spirit of Shincheonji Church of Jesus.
Despite prevailing global challenges within the Christian community, Shincheonji Church of Jesus has steadfastly thrived, defying stagnation. The establishment of the Zion Christian Mission Center in June 1990 marked the beginning of an upward trajectory, culminating in consecutive years of enrolling over 100,000 students.
Moreover, as a result of promoting word exchange with the value of mutual gro wth through harmony with religious communities at home and abroad, an MOU for word exchange was signed with 443 churches in Korea and 9,462 churches in 77 countries ov erseas. After the exchange of words, 1,382 churches in 38 countries recognized the exce llence of the word by changing their signboards to Shincheonji Church of Jesus.
An official from Shincheonji Church of Jesus said, “As we prepared the event with an e mphasis on safety and order, we feel rewarded for the smooth progress of the event. H e also said, “We would like to express our gratitude to the believers who actively partici pated in the guidance,” and added, “This year, we will establish ourselves as a church t hat sets an example for society and fulfills its social role as a church community, becomi ng a church that is light and salt.”
