John Larkin, Strategic Advisor, Board Member, and Investor, was recently selected as Top Strategic Advisor of the Year in Transportation and Logistics for 2024 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for his outstanding leadership, dedication, and commitment to the industry.
Inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself; only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations, and contributions to their communities. All Honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.
With over four decades of transportation industry experience, Mr. Larkin is currently a Strategic Advisor -Transportation and Logistics at Clarendon Capital, as well as a Senior Partner at Venture 53, which exclusively invests in early-stage companies that are developing software to make shipper, carriers, and/or 3PL’s more efficient. He joined Clarendon in 2019 and has broad experience in prominent transportation and logistics leadership roles in sell-side research, investment banking, and as a corporate executive.
Prior to joining Clarendon, John was Managing Director of Stifel’s Transportation & Logistics Investment Banking Team and advised numerous publicly traded and privately held transportation and logistics companies as well as many financial sponsors with investments in the transportation and logistics space. John formally led Stifel’s transportation & logistics research effort for 17 years, having originally founded the transportation & logistics research group at Legg Mason (later sold to Stifel, Nicolaus & Company), where he developed one of the largest and most prominent annual investment conferences in the industry.
John also served as Chairman and CEO of RailWorks Corporation, a consolidator in the rail products and services sector. Prior to that, John was Managing Director with Alex. Brown and Sons’ transportation team and AVP Planning and Analysis at CSX Transportation, Inc.
Prior to embarking on his career, Mr. Larkin earned an MBA from Harvard University, a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Vermont.
Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Larkin has received many awards and accolades and has been recognized worldwide for his accomplishments. Over the years, John has been recognized as an all-star analyst by Institutional Investor magazine numerous times, a Wall Street Journal All-Star analyst on several occasions, and has been awarded multiple Starmine stock picking and earnings estimate accuracy awards. This year, he will be considered for a feature in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine. He will be honored at IAOTP’s annual awards gala at Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville this December for his selection as Top Strategic Advisor of the Year in Transportation and Logistics.
In addition to his successful career, Mr. Larkin is also a member of numerous organizations in the technology and transportation arenas where research and development is leading to increased efficiency across the transportation & logistics industry.
