This extraordinary collection, curated by Margarita Parsamyan, breathes new life into forgotten operatic and art song gems, promising an unparalleled auditory journey. Diving deep into the annals of musical history, Margarita meticulously unearthed a selection of rarely performed arias and songs, each one a testament to the enduring power of human expression through song. This project is deeply personal for the artist as it connects Margarita to her Armenian roots through the magnificent artistry of Armenian poets and Italian composer Ottorino Respighi. The album also includes German Lied of the classical period, Russian songs and operatic pieces, and American operatic repertoire.
Margarita has been on the lookout for music that hasn’t received much exposure or performance. The initiation of this project aimed at gathering this Western music and presenting it to the global audience. Delving into numerous vintage publications, she discovered compositions that harmonize with her voice for classical era German Lieder. Being immersed in Russian romance as she grew up, both as a listener and performer, fostered a deep affection for this music. She couldn’t envision her album without its presence. So, she has incorporated some of her favorite Russian romances by Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff.
