South Korea’s First Global Street Culture Convention ‘FLOPPY 1.0’ to be held at the Asia Culture Center in Gwangju
DoTPlanner Co-CEO Kim Dohyun: “FLOPPY 1.0 will grow into a global street culture community.”
South Korea’s inaugural global convention centered on street culture preferences, ‘Let’s FLOPPY – FLOPPY 1.0’, has announced the opening of its ticket and the unveiling of its final lineup, consisting of speakers for talks and brands and artists in the fashion, food, and music sectors, on the 4th.
Being the first global event in Korea focusing on cultural tastes, it will feature artists and brand directors representing street culture from both domestic and international scenes. The event, covering four main themes of street culture – fashion, music, food, and talks – will take place over two days, October 14th and 15th, at the Asia Culture Center in Gwangju.
In fashion, street culture brands like PUNKANDYO, THE STAR TEAM, and VANS Korea, which have evolved from individual tastes to form a unique culture, will participate. Attendees can discover new preferences at pop-up stores of street fashion brands, which were previously hard to encounter offline.
The talk show will be moderated by Workman, Director of Know Wave Seoul, and will feature hot discussions on street culture with Andersson Bell’s Creative Director DoHun Kim, eyesmag’s Creative Director JinPyo Park, TACO STAND’s CEO SangJae Choi, VISLA Magazine’s Jang-min Choi, and Hyuk-in Kwon. The music session will showcase performances by renowned musicians like Balming Tiger, Luby Sparks, CHS, CIFIKA, Snake Chicken Soup, HOME SLICE, and Meaningful Stone, and Popular street foods from CAFE SARU, TACO STAND, Guten Dog, and Sweetish Carving will also be available.
This year’s inaugural FLOPPY 1.0 is co-hosted by DoTPlanner and Gwangju Tourism Organization, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Korea Tourism Organization, and with sponsorship from VANS Korea. DoTPlanner’s Co-CEO Kim Dohyun stated, “The goal of FLOPPY is to form a global community based on shared cultural tastes.
We want to bring together street cultures from not only Korea but also the US, Japan, Europe, and more, to highlight and share each other’s uniqueness, encourage diversity of culture, and create collaborative eco-system”.
The FLOPPY 1.0 ticket is available on the official website. For residents of Gwangju or the Jeollanam-do, a flat 50% discount is available regardless of the purchase date.
