“Reviewed By Miche Arendse for Readers’ Favorite

Things are not always what they seem and unexpected events are sure to follow in City of Ellora by Jimmy Tran. The land of Torsamel is one filled with beings beyond your imagination, from humanoid creatures to the most bizarre-looking wildlife, and everything in between. In this land of magic and mayhem, Scarlet Spring and an odd band of characters from all across Torsamel are in search of a serial killer known as the Dandy Man. While on his trail, things start to go awry, and plans change. Can this merry band of misfits brave the storm they find themselves at the center of or will they get carried away by the tides of war?

City of Ellora by Jimmy Tran read somewhat like a slow burner for me. Tran focused on setting the stage for the deeper plot points in the beginning and especially took his time introducing the reader to the multitude of characters. The world-building and extensive array of beings found in Torsamel is one of the highlights of the book; it adds a sense of realism to this magical world and allows you to become immersed in the story. I honestly loved every bit of the story and especially found myself attached to characters like Seraphina and Gumdrop, with whom I share a sweet tooth. The action and fight scenes were also well written although some readers might find the graphic descriptions a bit much. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to any avid reader out there.”
