COLDWATER, MICHIGAN – The Giving Palette, a business started by Malek Abdulla from Coldwater, Michigan, is bringing smiles to hospital patients’ faces with its innovative activity packets.
The Giving Palette creates activity packets for patients in hospitals, which include puzzles, coloring pages, and all the supplies needed to enjoy the activities, such as pencils and crayons. The goal of The Giving Palette is to provide entertainment and distraction for hospital patients, while also giving back to the community. A portion of the profits go towards scholarships and charities.
The founder, Malek Abdulla, a senior at Coldwater High School, has been passionate about making a difference in the community for years. Having worked in the healthcare industry, specifically in a hospital dietary department, he has seen firsthand how hospital patients can benefit from distractions and entertainment during their stay. Combining this experience with his interest in business, Abdulla came up with the idea for The Giving Palette as part of his senior business class at Coldwater High School.
“When I saw the impact that something as simple as a puzzle or coloring page could have on a patient’s day, I knew that I had to do something to help,” Abdulla said. “I wanted to create a business that could provide a fun and engaging activity for patients, while also giving back to the community.”
The Giving Palette has already made an impact on patients in hospitals. According to a recent study, hospital patients who used The Giving Palette activity packets reported higher levels of satisfaction with their hospital stay and felt more engaged with their care. The Giving Palette has also been recognized for its commitment to giving back to the community, with a portion of its profits going towards scholarships and charities.
Abdulla is excited about the future of The Giving Palette and hopes to expand the business to more hospitals in the coming months. “I truly believe that The Giving Palette can make a difference in the lives of hospital patients, and I am committed to making that happen,” he said.
