Rick Silvia, a United States Dressage Federation Gold Medalist and lifelong horse enthusiast, has had a long and successful career as a rider and trainer.
Rick studied under world-renowned trainer and rider, Karin Rehbein, as a Young Rider in Germany. Rick says he was immediately humbled and inspired when he arrived at Gestut Gronwolhdhof, a breeding and training facility known for its production of both top breeding stallions and Olympians. Rick had the opportunity to train and compete amongst the best in the world. Rick returned to the USA in the spring of 2006 and began competing at the highly competitive Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida under the instruction of Olympic Bronze Medalist, Lisa Wilcox.
As a Grand Prix Dressage Trainer in the United States, Rick Silvia offers a range of services to help riders achieve their equestrian goals. With his expertise in Dressage Training, Rick has helped countless riders improve their riding skills and achieve new levels of success achieving USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold Medals. In addition to his training services, Rick also offers Horse Sales and a variety of options for buying and selling horses, including offering a high quality inventory of Horses for Sale and Dressage Horses for Sale. For those looking to Sell their Horse, Rick provides Horse Consignment services that take the hassle out of the sales process. With a deep passion for horses and a commitment to excellence, Rick Silvia is the go-to source for all your equestrian needs.
In addition to being a seasoned FEI competitor having ridden more than 17 horses down centerline in the FEI arena, Rick has placed three times at the Young Horse National Championships culminating with a Bronze Medal finish in 2010 (Wayne, IL). Multiple Grand Prix wins, High Score Circuit Champions of the Global Dressage Festival (2011) and a Grand Championship at Dressage at Devon (2008) have all been career highlights.
In 2014 Rick turned his focus towards coaching and began to develop one of the most successful combinations at the Global Dressage Festival (Wellington, Florida). Dawn Sears-Bernardo and Rubinero II (who is now retired at Hill Top Farm) exemplified the training techniques Rick so strongly believes in and follows in a systematic way. Rick is passionate about harmony between horse and rider, always focusing on proper balance and clear communication. He insists that if this type of relationship is established, results will follow – something Dawn Sears-Bernardo and Rubinero II demonstrated. Dawn and Rubinero won numerous FEI Prix St. Georges and Intermediate I classes across the country including CDI competitions. The duo won the Regional Championships at Intermediate I (2014) and USEF Horse Of The Year for Prix St. Georges that same year.
More recently Rick has begun focusing on consignment and sales. Riders looking to purchase or sell their horses are finding Journey’s End Farm to be an important destination. Whether you’re visiting Journey’s End Farm in person or viewing Rick’s online platform – it’s easier than ever for equestrians to find their perfect match! Rick is known as the go-to person within the hunter/jumper community for repositioning hunter/jumpers into dressage mounts.
Journey’s End Farm hosts a number of educational seminars, a dressage schooling show series presented by the French Creek Equestrian Association, a Hunter Derby, and clinics with Olympian Lisa Wilcox.
Rick’s commitment to excellence extends beyond just training or sales preparation. He also includes valuable advice on topics such as diet (Rick is sponsored by and takes part in on going education provided by Alltech), hoof care (Rick is sponsored by LifeForce supplements), stall sanitation techniques (Rick beds on shredded cardboard), and so much more, making him an invaluable resource for riders and owners who want nothing but the best for their horses.
