Somalia’s humanitarian crisis is characterized by deepening conflicts, climate-induced events, and communicable disease concerns. Abdishakur Roble is leading the way to help individuals and families in dire need of assistance.
Stronger Together MN has stepped up its humanitarian efforts in the Horn of Africa, also known as the Somali Peninsula, which is a big peninsula and geopolitical region in East Africa.
Abdishakur Roble has recently discussed with H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the eighth president of Somalia, where the refugee crisis is dubbed as one of the most challenging displacement situations across the globe. In the last three decades, hundreds of thousands of individuals and families have fled the country due to political instability and a depressing civil war that broke out in the 1990s.
“Part of our ongoing conversations with Somali stakeholders about our current humanitarian work and future developments. We discussed ways we can contribute to the rebuilding of this great nation and thank him for his service,” Roble wrote.
Followers of Stronger Together MN have hailed the team for its laudable efforts to assist communities in dire need of assistance from the rest of the world. Comments like “keep going,” “keep up the good work,” and “thank you for the efforts” flood the Instagram page as it continues to provide support for the vulnerable.
In Stronger Together MN’s efforts to help Somalia, the team has also met H.E Hassan Ali Khaire, the 19th Prime Minister of Somalia. The former Somalian leader is an activist and has served as the regional head of the Norwegian Refugee Council charity. He also became the chief of the British oil company Soma Oil and Gas. They have also met with H.E Mahdi Mohammed Gulaid “Khadar,” the Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia.
Stronger Together MN has expressed its grave concern about the heightening level of humanitarian needs across the nation, fundamentally as a result of a historically unprecedented drought marked by about four failed rainy seasons. It is leading the way in partnering with key stakeholders to provide assistance for millions of people living under very harsh conditions.
Last year, Roble led successful missions to deliver food assistance to the people of Xuddur, a town in the south Western Bakool region of Somalia. The mission was one of the team’s most complex endeavors to date. The team was assisted by the Somali Federal Government Minister Khadija and her team at MoHADM for coordination & air cargo capacity support. Other organizations and personalities who helped include Southwest Regional Government President Abdiaziz Laftagareen and his team, the local Xudur Government leaders for facilitation, logistics, and security support, Mustafe and all of the “Stronger Together Mogadishu team” that worked round the clock.
“We received an urgent appeal for humanitarian assistance from the people of Xudur. The roads that supply this town of 40 thousand people are closed due to conflict. The town is also mainly a Somali minority group of Mai-Mai, unfortunately, therefore not receiving the attention and resources it needs,” Roble wrote in a post. In response to this concern, the team has provided food assistance to 20 percent of the population right away.
