Gamache, Marak & Rondini’s New Album ‘HardKnox Reprise’ Connects Past and Present

How many times have you heard a great classic song that’s let down by poor recording and sound production? Many top names in the game have fallen short to low quality sounding tracks, with instrument levels much to be desired for. Perhaps most of the blame can be leant to the lack of technology in those golden eras, but, imagine having today’s recording and production technology with some of that sixties and seventies rock magic.

Gamache, Marak and Rondini have come up with the answer – connecting past and present with their latest album ‘HardKnox Reprise’. With a contemporary sound built around British/US Power Pop Rock, their new album will most likely appeal to fans of The Who, Tom Petty, Eagles, The Beatles, and the majority of legendary rock ‘n’ roll bands back in the day. Boasting catchy lyrics, melodies, signature guitar solos and energetic percussion arrangements, their songs blend the sixties, seventies and eighties with today’s production and sound.

‘HardKnox Reprise’ explores a broad range of topics including- loss, love, fame, reflection to more serious issues regarding gun violence.

Once again their tunes, lyrics, melodies, and guitar riffs will grab you from the first few. “Fame and Fortune”, the opening number, reminiscent of The Who, sets the tone with its opening line “I wouldn’t be here tonight, if it wasn’t for something deep down in my soul.” The chorus then asks “Is it fame and fortune that I’m after….and does it really matter?” The song ends with the answer which you will need to listen to find out.

The guys delve into concerns regarding relationships and broken hearts, with bravado in the Cars like “Second Place,” Anyway Love”, that reminds us of The Knack, and the rocking “Let You Go.” On to vulnerable lamenting of loss reflected in the power ballad “Elizabeth Eaton” and Badfinger Esque “Wait For A Moment.” They also present a straight out love song with “I Didn’t Know How Much I’d Love You” and a bit of humor with the tongue-in-cheek, Cheap Trick sounding, pick up song “Do You.”

“We’ve Been Down This Road Before” with its Eagles feel and “Pick up your Gun (We Keep Asking Why)” deal with some of the more important issues we face today – the divisive politics and the senseless gun murders we read about every day.

“Pick Up Your Gun (We Keep Asking Why?)”. Also a CD single is timely considering the senseless gun violence and killing. We try to understand why (mostly young male) shooters do what they do. It is about mass shootings, but also alludes to inner city gun violence.

Finally, the guys end with “Mister Lennon”, a tribute to John Lennon.

The band’s song writing and musical talents are consistently demonstrated on every song. They pay homage to classic music, while bringing their own new and fresh ideas as well.

There are currently four CDs on our label, Mansion Road Music, by Gamache Marak Rondini, “HardKnox Redux”, “HardKnox Roughcut”, “Pick Up Your Gun (We Keep Asking Why?)” single, and their latest CD “HardKnox Reprise”. All have been released over the last two and one half years with “HardKnox Reprise” released on August 12th 2022.
