Talented creatives and fans of the popular Tomb Raider have come together to create what can be rightly described as an eyeopener into the events between two games – Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (TR4) and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness (TRAOD) in Tomb Raider: The Myth of El Hawa. In a related development, the animated film is set to premiere at a screening in Derby, the city where Tomb Raider games were initially created, on October 15th to be followed by a YouTube Live Premiere on October 21st
Tomb Raider is undoubtedly one of the biggest franchises in the entertainment industry, with its popularity spanning the movie and game markets, attracting millions of people across genres worldwide. However, Tomb Raider: The Myth of El Hawa has been created to explain the events between Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (TR4) and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness (TRAOD), giving fans of the franchise a better understanding of the story in a captivating animated film.
Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (TLR) was released in 1999 as the fourth title in the franchise, with the game focusing on Lara Croft’s battle with the Egyptian God Set. Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness (2003), the other part of the project, was the final game by Derby-based Core Design. Released in 2003, the game has grown in popularity to become a cult favourite, thanks to its mystery-driven, Gothic-noir story and powerful soundtrack.
The Story for Tomb Raider: The Myth of El Hawa was written by the writer of TRAOD, Murti Schofield, and will finally provide a proper, canon explanation of the events between two Tomb Raider games. The video is narrated by Jonell Elliott, Lara Croft’s voice actress in Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, Tomb Raider: Chronicles and The Angel of Darkness.
Tomb Raider: The Myth of El Hawa was created by Ash Kaprielov, a long-time Tomb Raider veteran fan to explore the happenings in both games. Ash, whose works include projects include Replay Events’ Tomb Raider 20th Anniversary Core Design QA at Play Expo Manchester 2016, worked with Tina Ljubenkov, an award-winning photographer, who was the assistant director of Tomb Raider: The Myth of El Hawa. Other members of the team are Jasmine Steiner, who did the artwork, and Dean Kopri, a die-hard Tomb Raider fan who did musical tributes to Lara Croft and her adventures, doing music and mastering.
