GOGOTECH, Makers of the ABBY Power Chair, Launches Equity Crowdfunding Campaign

Wilmington, Del. – 23rd August, 2022 – GOGOTECH has launched an equity crowdfunding campaign with Wefunder in support of ABBY, a new personal electric vehicle (PEV) for adults with reduced mobility. Unlike current solutions that have a limited range, cost three to ten times as much, and are distributed through complex healthcare bureaucracy, ABBY uses advanced technology for greater versatility and portability at a much more affordable cost.

After relying on wheelchairs intermittently since 1985, co-founder and CEO John DeBenedette developed ABBY when he realized the last four decades had produced little change in assistive mobility device technology. ABBY revolutionizes the obsolete template by including modular batteries for virtually unlimited range, cameras and sensors for safety, remote control and hands-free robotic driving, connectivity with the cloud, and an upcoming mobile app.

“ABBY can be used manually, with smart push-rim technology for power-assisted self-propulsion, or with a joystick as a full electric vehicle,” says Mr. DeBenedette. “She essentially functions like three chairs in one.”

With ABBY, GOGOTECH aims to disrupt the current scarcity model that underproduces and overprices “medical devices” that in the status quo are available only to wealthy or well-insured persons. ABBY will retail for only $3000, with financing options, helping as many people as possible increase their freedom and independence with powered mobility.

“I made an advance purchase of an ABBY for my sister,” says investor Bradford Armstrong. “I’ve been following the continued progress and success at ABBY and would like to help it get to market. The need is there, and ABBY is the solution.”

GOGOTECH predicts that the market for vehicles that aid personal mobility will reach $20 billion by 2026, and that ABBY’s revolutionary design addresses the needs of almost half of all potential buyers. It plans to sell 50,000 ABBYs over five years in the United States with gross margins approaching 70%. Eventually, GOGOTECH sees the opportunity to match ABBYs with millions of mobility-challenged adults each year.
