Jean Duclair addresses the challenges the people of Haiti have been facing for years in his new book, “Novel Solution to Clean up Haiti’s Fertile Soil of Poverty” and what the solution to these problems are.
Known as the “Pearl of the Caribbean” Haiti is home to a rich culture, artisans, and being the world’s first black republic. However, the country is also plagued by poverty, natural disasters, and a history of economic setbacks.
According to the World Bank, in 2020, Haiti had a GDP per capita of US$2,925, the lowest in the LAC region and less than a fifth of the LAC average of US$15,092. Haiti ranked 170 out of 189 countries on the UN’s Human Development Index the same year.
Jean Duclair discusses the challenges and poverty Haitians face on a daily basis in his book, “Novel Solution to Clean up Haiti’s Fertile Soil of Poverty”. He highlights how the local government and leaders have failed to help Haitians, often extorting money from oversea donors, as well as the locals.
Duclair further discusses what the problems are and offers solutions each and every challenge the country faces.
“I was born into a very poor family. Some of my siblings passed away because we couldn’t afford a better life. Growing up, I saw my parents grow old not because of their age but because we couldn’t afford a good life. When my siblings grew up and migrated to Canada, they helped me go there and that’s when I realized that there’s so much Haiti can be. That’s why I wrote this book. It’s the solution to all the problems the country is facing,” commented Duclair, talking about how his childhood was affected by poverty and why he wrote the book.
Jean Duclair hopes to provide the solutions the Haitians need through is book and extensive research.
